Mrs. Gertrude Fowler Shee
ly, 83, of 209 N. Owens Street
died Saturday in Charlotte
Presbyterian Hospital.
She had been a patient in the
intensive care unit since Wed
nesday when she received a bro
ken hip injury. The widow of 0.
L Sheely, she had made her
home in Charlotte with her
daughter, Mrs. Ernest F. Cul-
breath for several months.
She was a lifelong resident of
Laurens County, daughter of the
late Rev. Harrison and Mary
Scott Fowler. She was a mem
ber of the First BaptistChurch.
Surviving are a daughter,
Mrs. Elizabeth S. Culbreath of
Charlotte; two grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Sunday afternoon at 5:30 at
Gray Funeral Home conducted
by the Rev. J. H. Darr. Inter
ment was in Presbyterian
Church Cemetery.
E. L. Hellams
MOUNTVILLE - Erskine Lee
Hellams, 57, of Rt. 1, Mount-
ville, died Friday, June 19.
He was a native of Laurens
County, son of the late Albert
and Lydia Tumblin Hellams.
He was a member of the Bea-
verdam Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Fannie
Mae Benjamin Hellams, a son,
Billy John Hellams of Ninety
Six; a daughter Mrs. Bobby
Armstrong of Laurens; three
brothers, Charles Hellams of
Laurens, Mack Hellams of Ne-
wardk, Del., and Oscar Hellams
of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Mrs.
Elsie Woods of Mauldin, a half-
brother, David Tumblin of Lau
rens and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
on Sunday, June 21, at the Bea
ver dam Baptist Church. Burial
was in the church cemetery.

JOANNA - Mrs. Clara Price
Suber, 85, widow of John T.
Suber, died Wednesday, June 17.
She was born in Newberry
County. She was a member of
Flint Hill Baptist Church and
the Woman’s Aid Society.
Surviving are a daughter,
Mrs. Essie Henderson of Jo
anna; three sons, James Suber
of Joanna, Roy Suber of Clin
ton and Warren Suber of Thom-
asville, N. C.; 18 grandchild
ren; 24 great-grandchildren;
and three great-great-grand
children.
Funeral services were held
Sunday at Flint Hill Baptist
Church, Newberry County. Bur
ial was in the church ceme
tery.
