ROGERS HONORED — Rev. E. W.
Rogers was honored Sunday as a
plaque. was unveiled, dedicating to
him thte new educational building at
Broad Street United Methodist
Church. The plaque was unveiled
by Rev. LeGrande Moody, district
superintendent, right. Shown above

Rogers Moves To Greenville
Rev. E. W. Rogers who has
served as pastor of the Broad
Street United Methodist Church
for the past five years, leaves
this week to assume his new ap
pointment at Saint Matthews U-
nited Methodist Church in
Greenville.
While inClinton he has served
as secretary, vice-president
and president of the Joanna-
Clinton Ministerial Associa
tion. He has alsn served as the

New Pastor
At Bailey
Rev. James W. McAlister has
been appointed pastor of Bailey
Memorial Methodist Church in
Clinton.
He prevnnisly has served as
pastor of Hopewell Church-Ki-
nards Charge.
Greenwood District Missionary
Secretary of the South Caro
lina Methodist Conference. He
is now serving as a member of
the Board of Trustees for the
South Carolina Methodist Advo
cate and Chairman of the Green-
wnod District Program Council
and Staff. He has also been serv
ing as president of the Lau
rens County Mmisterail As
sociation.
His other services in the
rev. McAlister
Clinton area have been num
erous. He has served on the
Board of Directors of the Clin
ton YMCA; worked in several
positions with the United Fund;
member of the AFM «44Camp
bell Lodge; the Boy Scouts of
America; the Laurens County
Mental Health Association; the
Alston Wilkes Society and Al
coholics Anonymous. He has
also served as first vice-presi
dent of the Clinton Lions Club.
Rev. Rogers has been serv
ing as Chaplain for the Naval
Reserve Training Station in
Spartanburg. He now holds the
rank of Commander and is a
member of the Naval Board of
Selections for Naval Chaplains.
Under the leadership of Rev.
Rogers, Broad Street United
Methodist Church has shown
tremendous growth. A new par
sonage was built in 1966 and a
new sanctuary and education
building was completed in
March of this year.
Rev. R ogers is married to the
former Margaret Davis and he
has two sons and tw o daughters.
He -also hats served as com-"'
s«lor for the Meth<dist Y'uth
Fellowship of Laurens County
and is chaplain of the Laurens
County Shrine Club.
He is married to the former
Dorothy Sue Oakley of Anderson
and they have three daughters,
Donna, Suzanne and Carla.
John Buuknight, a student
pastor, will serve the Hopewell-
Kinards charge.

He recently graduated from
Balhaven College in Jackson,
Mississippi, with a B. A. de
gree in Bible and ChristianEd-

David G. Elliott has recent
ly been appointed sales engi
neer for Ascoe Felts, Inc., ac
cording to Kenneth E. Fryfogle,
president of the Clinton based
firm. Mr. Elliott will serve
paper mills in the states of Ar
kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi
and Texas.
Mr. Elliott, a native of Ala
bama, received his formal ed
ucation at the University of
Alabama from which he was
graduated in 1959. Since then
he has been associated with the
machine clothing - industry and
has been a sales representa
tive for wet'felts for the past
six years. ,
With production beginning
early in 1968, Ascoe Felts, Inc.,
a manufacturer of wet felts for
the pulp and paper industry, has
pioneered the production of
