School District 56 Areas Shown
Shown here are the attendance areas for ele
mentary school students in School District 56,
according to the district’s integration plan for
the 1970-71 school year.
Area 1 students will attend Clinton Elemen
tary School. Area 1 includes the area south of
Highway 76. It reaches to within one mile of
Highway 56 on the eastern side and to the dis
trict boundary on the western side. It goes to
Lake Greenwood on the southern boundary, in
cluding the Mountville-Cross Hill area.
Area 2 students will attend M. S. Bailey Ele
mentary School. Area 2 includes the area north
of Highway 76 and west of North Broad Street
to the district line on the west.

Area No. 3 students will attend Florida
Street Elementary School which last year was
Clinton Junior High School. Area 3 includes the
area north of Highway 76 and east of Broad St.
(The intersection of Highway 76 and North
Broad Street is the dividing point between Areas
2 and 3.) The line for Area 3 follows North Broad
Street onto 308 to Goodwin’s Crossroad, then
goes along 53, crosses Intersate 26 and becomes
314 to Highway 56 which it follows to the county
line.
Area 4 elementary students will attend Joan
na Elementary School. Area 4 encompasses an
area stretching from the blacktop county road
near the old Hunter home and south of the in
tersection of Highways 99 a n d 34. The line
stretches from there to the intersection of 56 and
66. The Lauren-Newberry county line is the east
ern boundary for Area 4.
