PRESSAU Synod Women Meet Here Monday The Annual Meeting of the Presbyterian Women of the Church of the Synod of South Carolina will convene at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 22, at Pres byterian College in Clinton. An Inspirational address and the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper on Monday evening will close the 58th Annual Meeting and open the 23rd Training School of the Women of the Synod, which will continue throughout the week to lunch on Friday. Presbyterian pastors, W.O.C. leaders, and missionaries will serve on the faculty of the school Included will be Rev. R. Murphy Williams of Myrtle Beach; Mrs. Russell McMillan of Mullins, and Dr. Richard Giles Laurens, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Greer. Dr. Laurens has worked with youth groups throughout the state and in N. C. Also, Rev. W. Frank Harrington, Senior Minister of Fairview Presbyterian Church, North Augusta. An author, Rev. Harrington was recipient of the North Augusta and the State of S. C. Distinguished Service Award for 1969. Rev. Thomas C. Cook, retired Presbyterian minister, now living in Laurens will also serve on the faculty. Mrs. James A. Nelms Jr, of Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. Dan Roberts of Orangeburg will direct some of the classes. Mrs. Nelms, a teacher-trainer, has instructed tutors in South Virginia and North Carolina. She is Presbyterian Officer of Norfolk Presbytery serving her local church in Christian Community Action. Mrs. Roberts, daughter of Presbyterian missionaries to North Brazil Dr. and Mrs. George Taylor, is a former school teacher. She is president of W.O.C., Orangeburg First Presbyterian Church, and a leader in the Orangeburg Association of Retarded Just Graduated From High School? The Future Belongs To The Educated. Dr. Pressau is a special con sultant in recreation at Whitten Village, also. i Rev. Donald E. Lennon, associate pastor of Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia, and Rev. Harry H. Phillips, an evangelist missionary to Taiwan, Republic of China will be instructors in the mission classes. A native of Boston, Mass., Rev. Lennon served as missionary to Overseas Chinese in Japan for the U.S. Presbyterian Church, Board of Women Teachers Join PC Staff Two women teachers have been added to the Presbyterian College faculty as instructors in English to begin their duties next fall, Dean W. Fred Chapman announced today. They are: Mrs. Barbara E. Rabb, a PC alumna of Fountain Inn; and Miss Henrietta E. Hughes of Camden. Bothearned their master of arts in teach ing at Converse College. After receiving her BA from PC in 1966, Mrs. Rabb taught for three years at HillcrestSen- ior High School in Simpsonville and then at ChristChurchEpis- copal School, Greenville, during the past year. Miss Hughes, a native of Union, received her undergrad uate degree from Converse inn!964 and taught for two years at Florence’s McClenaghan High before joining the teach ing staff of Camden High. She served as English department co-chairman there during the past year. Upon joiningthe Presbyterian College faculty, they will bring to eight the number of profess ors serving under Dr. Neal B. They are: Sherry Gibner, left, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al vin W. Gibner, and Gary Ficklin, right, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Ficklin. Sherry had the high est average for the girls and Gary had the high est average for boys. Joanna Coin Phones Changed The coin telephones in the Joanna area will be converted to the pre-pay type like the pay telephones in the Clinton area. Bob Simmons, manager, for Southern Bell said that this change will take place at 2p.m. on Saturday, June 20 In the past, the phones were, used for local calls on the honor*, system. With the new phones, the coin will have to be de posited before you receive di^l tone. The stations will be chang ed to the latest equipment. ? REV. PHILLIPS World Missions, from 1966-1969. Rev. Phillips, a native of Winston Salem, N. C., has served with his family in Hollis Named As Director Of Motor Group Thomas F. Hollis of Clinton has been re-elected to the board of directors of the South Car olina Motor Transportation As sociation. Mr. Hollis, president of Hollis Transport Co., is a for mer president of the state or ganization. Richard L. Few of Greenville was elected president of the association.
