held at the Laurens HighSchool.

Receives Degree
At Tusculum
Elizabeth Marie Keller re
ceived the B.S. degree in Eud-
cation, majaring in Elementary
Education, from Tusculum Col
lege, during Commencement
exercises May 30 in Greenville,
Tenn.
A graduate of Clinton High
School, she is the daughter of
Mr. k Mrs. Robert R. Keller of
Sunset Boulevard, Clinton.
While at Tusculum, she was
president of Katherine Hall.
Tusculum is a coeducational
liberal arts college located in
East Tennessee. Founded in
1704, Tusculum is the oldest
college in America related to
the United Presbyterian Church
in the U.S.A., and the oldest
institution of higher learning in
the State of Tennessee.

Bond, son of Mr. Louis J. Bond
of 732 W. Main St., Clinton,
is now serving with the First
Marine aircraft Wing in Viet
nam.

Laurens Electric Coopera
tive Manager, Jack Templeton,
reports that the organization is
now serving 11,325 consumers.
One of the largest industries
in its service area, the coope
rative represents a plant in
vestment of $7,153,000, and
maintains 2,221 miles of distri
bution lines in Laurens, Green
ville, Spartanburg and adjoining
counties. Headed by a nine-man
Board of Directors, Laurens
Electric Cooperative has repaid
it's banker $3,248,824 including
$1,222,857 interest.
Capital Credits have been re
turned to the member-owners
for the last eleven consecutive
years. This amount was $41,
013.10 for the year 1969; the to
tal amount refunded for these
eleven years being $515,006.69.
Drawing for prizes to be given
to members will be held at the
conslusion ■ >f the meeting.
M.-aviers are reminded that
they have to be present to be

be winner's choice of a T.V.
set, an electric range or a re
frigerator. Numerous other
small appliances will be given
including an electric can

Of Lexington
Alvin M. Whitmire has been
hired by Lexington Homes, Inc.
of Chapin, as its new vice pre
sident and general manager of
mobile home manufacturing.
Mr. Whitmire brings more
than eight years < f manufact
uring experience to Lexington
Homes. He was formerly with
Contessa Homes, Inc. where he
served in the same capacity.
Lexington Homes produced
three units per day and shipped
55 last month. Mr. Whitmire
intends to ship 80 units and pro
duce four units per day by the
end of the month.
Force Promoted

Charlie Force Jr. of Joanna
has teen named superintendent
of Test Group B with Greenwood
Mills.
A native of Saluda, Mr. Force
has teen in the quality control
department of the Joanna Plants
since 1949. He is a member of
First Baptist Church in Joanna.
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy John
son and young son, Michael
left Monday June 1st for Cali
fornia where Jimmy Johnson
is stationed with Naval Air
Force. He had been at home
on leave after duty in the South
Pacific.
A number of friends of the
community attended graduation
exercises of Clinton High
Seniors at Belk Auditorium Sun
day night, May 31. Among those
attending were Mr. and Mrs.
J.C. Noble, their daughter, Lynn
Keller Nabors was a graduate.
Mrs. Margaret Berry attended
Her daughter, Kathy Berry, was
one of the Marshals. Mrs. Ruth
Hill was there. Her niece, Judy
Davenport was among the gra
duates.

ed by a number of friends with
a miscellaneous shower Monday
June 8 at 7:30 at the recrea
tional hall of Fairview Baptist
Church.

School this year. Mrs. Barbara
Boyce was home to attend the
graduation at Newberry High.
