JOINS ARMY V '/•.* Mrs. Wayne Montjoy and Tammy visited Mr. and Mrs. William Whamm last weekend. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Rowe visited Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson in Whit mire. Little Meredith Williams of Newberry spent the weekend here with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Metts. Mrs. Sara O’Shields left on Sunday for Mableton, Ga., to spend some time with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Kennington. Mrs. Minnie Burnett joined Mrs. Willie Mae Spires and son, Chip Spires of Clinton and spent last weekend in Columbia with Mr. and Mrs. J. Lloyd Smith. They attended the tent meetings of Rev. A. A. Allen while there. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Irby Ginn and Elaine visited Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Morris and Mrs. Thelma Morris in Whitmire. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bran non, Lisa and David of Laurens were Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brannon. Mr. and Mrs. GeorgeSaun- ders, John Charles and Phillip enjoyed the weekend at Hilton Head. Mrs. Cancie Brown joined Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holsonback and spent the day in Greenville on Saturday. Tom Ashley of Clearwater, Fla. spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Julian Hunnicutt. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Boyce and Mrs. W. J. Hogan were Fri day overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Bowman. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Dunlap and Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Bowers were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tinsley and Gus of Columbia. On Saturday they enjoyed supper at the Panarama Ledge. Mrs. Ronald Brock, Jay and Jenifer of Greenwood spent last week with Mrs. Delmar Lawson. Mr. Lawson will return on Sat urday after spending two weeks On April 1st Sgt. William Moon rejoined the U. S. Army and is now stationed at Fort Lee, Va. He and Mrs. Moon spent last weekend here with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Moon. ATTENDED WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. Jenny Pitts and Reid of Charleston and Mrs. Roy O’Dell of Ft. Mills spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil O’Dell. They were join ed by Mrs. James Simpson on Saturday and they attended the Jones-Griffin wedding at the First Baptist Church in Clem- son. Cooler, right, was presented the Meritorious Service Medal on May 18. Col. Cooler of Clinton, command er of the U.S. Army Reserve School in Columbia, was honored in recogni tion of h i s outstanding service as Commandant of the USAR School from July 1, 1969, through June 23. Presenting the medal is Maj. Gen Thomas J. Thorne, commander, 120th U.S. ARCOM. Col. Cooler is chair man of the psychology department at Presbyterian College and resides at 104 East Centennial Street. He has been affiliated with the Columbia USAR School since 1952 and will be retiring from the Army on June 24. Owens of Route 1, Gideon Hill, Clinton, is now serving aboard the aircraft car rier USS Kitty Hawk, currently undergoing extensive overhaul at the Puget Sound Naval Ship yard, Bremerton, Wash.
