Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Stilwell
visited their son and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Stilwell
in Halleyville, Alabama last
week, going especially to stay
with the children while Jimmy
and wife Betty toured Spain and
parts of Africa. While there,
they attended granddaughter,
Sylvia’s fifth grade play. The
Halleyville Mobile Home Festi
val where granddaughter, Cry
stal was a contestant in the
beauty contest and Molly play
ed in the band. They returned
home by plane May 18.
Tom Willard visited his par
ents Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Will
ard in Cross Anchor.
Mrs. Robert Oates of Eas
ley spent the weekend with her
daughter, Mrs. Herschel Thom
ason and Mr. Thomason.
Richard White visited Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Gurley andMr.
and Mrs. Allen White at Lake
Greenwood for a weekend of
skiing.
Mrs. Hugh Williams is home
from Self Memorial Hospital
and her mother, Mrs. Esther
Timmons of the Methodist Home
in Orangeburg is still a pa
tient in the hospital suffering
from injuries received when
they were in an automobile
accident recently in Waterloo.
Mrs. Theda Swift of Green
ville spent the weekend with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.
T. Thomason.
Mrs. C. T. Thomason was
honored with a birthday din
ner Sunday, May 18, by members
of her family. Joining the fami
ly here were Mr. and Mrs.
Don Handback and little Son,
Scott of Greenville. Mrs. Hand-
back and little son remained for
several days with her parents
while he attended G. E. School
in Bloomington, 111 Don finish
ed fourth in a class represent
ed by 21 states.

ner and sons of Lexington were
guests of Mrs. Evelyn Byars.

Garcfcer, Mr. and Mrs. R. C.
Gardner of Newberry. It was
the first time they had all been
together in 25 years.

HOME FROM VIETNAM
Lt. Col. Benjamin F. Ivey ar
rived home last week following
a year’s tour of duty in Viet
nam, with the U. S. Army.
Mrs. Bill Horne and sons,
Billy and Mike of Barksdale
AFB, La. are spending several
weeks with Capt. Horne’s par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Horne.
Capt. Horne accompanied them
here for the weekend and left
Monday for Keesler AFB, Miss,
where he is attending Person
nel School for Officers for two
months.
Lynn Wilbanks will celebrate
her 13th birthday May 25.
Mrs. J. K. Brown of the
Thornwell Orphanage staff is
spending several days with re
latives in Georgia.
Miss Louise Kern has return
ed home after an operation ill
ness in Columbia.
Sunday afternoon, Mrs.W.W.
Harris attended kindergarten
graduation exercises at New
berry where her granddaughter,
Elizabeth Senn, was among
those receiving a certificate.
Mrs. Sarah Jenkins and Mrs.
Beverly Walters and Beth visit
ed Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Holland
in Summerville over the week
end.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bixler
and Leigh spent the past week
end at Pawley's Island.
Mrs. M. C. Poole and Mrs.
S. A. Timmons visited their
mother, Mrs. Broom in Tryon
during the weekend.
Miss Brenda Baldwin is home
for the summer vacation from
Limestone College, Gaffney.
Mrs. W. W. Harris, who has
been spending several days in
Richmond, Va. this week, visit
ing Mrs. J. P. Johnson and
will return tomorrow.

Dr. and Mrs. Marshall
Brown have returned to Clinton
after a trip to Japan, via Ho
nolulu and Wake Island. From
Tokyo they flew over Viet Nam
and Cambodia to Bangkok. They
returned from Thailand by way
of Hong Kong.
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Horger
left Saturday from Charlotte, N.
C. by plane for the Bahamas
for a four day trip. Mr. Horger
will attend the Convention at
Freeport. All expenses are be
ing paid by Liberty Life In
surance Comapny.

by Dr. R. Bryce Herbert with

Mrs. Threadgill is a graduate
of Columbia College and at
tended the University of South
Carolina Graduate School. She
is teaching in the Columbia
Schools.
Mr. Threadgill is a senior at
the University of South Carolina
and is associated with Liberty
Life Insurance Company.

Miss Barbara Jane Keck and
Mr. Terry Fulmer Pitts were
united in marriage at the St.
Andrews Lutheran Church,
Hickory, N. C. on May 16 at
4 p.m.
She is a daughter of Dr. and
Mrs. Albert H. Keck, Jr of
Hickory, N. C. and the groom
is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Lewis C. Pitts of Clinton.
Officiating at the ceremony
were Dr. Albert H. Keck Jr.
father of the bride and Rev.
George A. Keck, brother of
the bride.
The bride wore an heirloom
wedding gown of white habital
silk, trimed with renaissance
and Valenciennes lace worn by
her maternal grandmother and
also by the bride’s mother. The
gown, beautilly perserved was
fashioned on the quaintest lines
with high neckline and yolk of
the Battenburg trimming and
numerous pin tucks. The cathe
dral length tram, appliquedwith
lace, was made by her mother.
The headpiece was fashioned
from a lace handkerchief be
longing to her maternal great
grandmother. The bride car
ried a New Testament inlaid
with mother of pearl, origi
nally from Jerusalem. It had
also been carried by her mo
ther.
Matron of honor was Miss
Betty Finley of Winston-Sa
lem, N. C. Bridesmaid were
Miss Robyn Hollar and Miss
Debra Craft of Charlotte, N. C.
Flower girl was Miss Laura
Keck, niece of the bride of
Winston-Salem, N. C. The
bridesmaids and flower girl
wore similar gowns of yellow
crepe designed with high neck
lines and empire waist. They
carried nosegays of white dais
es.
The wedding was directed by
E. Lorene Fulmer of Columbia.
Music was provided by organ
ist Harry S. Livengood, Hick
ory, N. C.; soloist Mrs. Wade
F. Hook of Gettysburg, Penn.,
trumpeter, Miss Zelia Fisher
of Cayce.
Bestman was Lewis C. Pitts,
father of the groom. Ushers
were Sidney C. Pitts, brother
of the groom; Rev. David R.
Keck of Boone, brother of the
bride and Mr. James V. Fulmer
of York, Penn, and Timothy A.
Keck of Spartanburg, brother of
bride. David R. Keck Jr. of
Boone was ringbearer.
Mrs. Pitts is a graduate of
Hickory High School and De
voir Rhyne College, where she
was a member of the Mrs.
Sigma Epsilon, honorary scho
lastic sorority. She has held a
position as librarian at Lenoir
Rhyne College Library.
Mr. Pitts, who graduated
from Conestoga Valley High
School, Lancaster, Penn, and
Lenoir Rhyne College, is a stu
dent at Waterloo LutheranSem-
inary in Waterloo, Ontario.
While at Lenoir Rhyne he dis
tinguished himselfbybeingcho-
sen “Who’s Who Among College
Students in American Universi
ties,” and as a member of Alpha
Psi Omega, honorary dramatics
fraternity.
The couple will make their
home at Sauble Beach, Ontario
where Mr. Pitts will be summer
par tor of Christ the King Lu
theran Church.

from Clinton were Mr. and Mrs.
John Fulmer and family.
