BUFFALO - David Carl Bai
ley, 59, of 54 Buffalo St., died
Friday in Union. He was a bro
ther of Mrs. Myrtle Powell of
Cross Hill.
Other survivors include two
other sisters and a brother.
Funeral services were held
Sunday at Pentecostal Holiness
Church in Whitmire with burial
in Whitmire Cemetery. ^
Eulos Redding
MARIETTA - Eulas Redding,
59, of Cleveland Street Exten
sion, died Saturday. He was the
stepfather of Mrs. Martha Ed
wards of Clinton.
Other survivors include his
wife, two sons, three other step
daughters, a brother, two sis
ters, 12 grandchildren and a
great-grandchild.
J. H. Browning
WOODRUFF - Jake Henry
Browning died Friday. He was a
son of Mrs. Penola Jones of
Clinton and was a brother of
Mrs. Fannie Dillard of Clinton.
Other survivors include his
wife, two daughters, two sons,
and his adopted mother.
I. E. Dickert
NEWBERRY - Jake Elbert
Dickert, 57, of Route 3, New
berry, died Saturday. He was
the father of Harvey R. Dickert
of Clinton and was a brother of
Ed Dickert of Clinton.
Other survivors include his
wife, another son, four sisters
and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were con
ducted Sunday at Whitaker Fun
eral Home with burial in New
berry Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith
Mrs. Lizzie DavenportSmith,
89, widow of M. Dwight Smith,
of Mountville, died Sunday.
A native of Newberry County,
she was a daughter of the late
Jefferson Davis and Betty Lou
Chandler Davenport. She was
the oldest member of the Mount
ville Church. For the past 16
years she had lived with her two
daughters, Mrs. Pierce H. Mill
er of Mountville and Mrs. How
ard C. Penn of Greenwood.
Also surviving are another
daughter, Mrs. L. Troy Watts
of Mountville; a son, Carroll
D. Smith of Joanna; and 10
grandchildren and 14 great
grandchildren and one great-
great grandchild.
Funeral services were held
Monday at Blyth Funeral Home.
Burial was in Liberty Springs
Church cemetery at Cross Hill.
Colie Prince
Colie B. Prince, 59, of 902
Elizabeth St., died Saturday.
He was a native of Union
County but had lived in Clinton
for 50 years. He was a son of
the late Loomis and Mattie Da
vis Prince. He was a retired
employe of Lydia Mills and at
tended Duncan Creek Presby
terian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Maggie Campbell Prince; a
daughter, Miss Peggy Prince
of the home; three sons, Bobby
Joe, Billy Jerald and William
Edward Prince of Clinton; a
sister, Miss Emma Prince of
Clinton; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Monday at Gray Funeral Home.
Burial was in Rosemont Ceme
tery.
Joe V. Pitts
Joe V. Pitts of Summerville,
Georgia, died Monday. He was
a native of Clinton, but had made
his home inSummervillefor the
past 35 years.
He was a son of the late Guy
Cleon and Ina Vance Pitts. He
was a cotton buyer for the Ge
neva Cotton Mills, a member of
The Summerville Presbyterian
Church, member of The Ma
sonic Lodge 704 AFM, The
Summerville Shrine Club, and
The Yarrah Temple in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Winiford Adams Pitts,
one son, Joe Vance Pitts, Jr.,
of Atlanta, Ga., one sister, Mrs.
Cleon Rykard, of Camden; one
brother, Guy C. Pitts Jr. of
Jonesboro Ga.
Funeral services were con
ducted Wednesday in the Sum
merville Presbyterian Church.
The body was to arrive at The
Gray Funeral Home, Clinton at
4 p.m. and graveside services
were to be conducted at 6 p.m.
by Dr. Redd Turner in the Pres
byterian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dr. Marc
Weersing, Robert Vance, Ro
bert Black, Bill King, William
Shields, Thomas Hollis, Dr. Da
vis Pitts, and J. Henderson
Pitts.
The family will be at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Ja
cobs, Sr., 101 Calvert Ave.
Mrs. Morgan
Mrs. Esther Mincey Morgan,
49 of 1900 Cupstid Rd., Cayce,
died Saturday in the Columbia
Hospital from injuries she re
ceived in an automobile acci
dent near Great Falls.
She was the mother of Mrs.
Raymond Benson of Clinton.
Other survivors include her
husband, Wade Campbell Mor
gan, who also was injured in the
accident; another daughter; a
son; her mother; and two sis
ters.
Funeral services were held
Monday.
