Asking For A Raise
BY SALLY SHAW
DEAR SALLY: I’m a young
man who has been granted an
interview with the vice presi
dent f my company at which I
want to discuss the possibility
of a raise. Can you give me
any advice n how to conduct
myself at this very important
"conference" 0 HAL.
DEAR HAL: In the first place,
don t ramble on about your bills,
family responsibilities, how
mucti y 'u deserve it and s o n.
The m 'St imp rtant thing is that
you l>e brief tnjtfirm.Simply
state that y .ur responsibilities
have increased and that you feel
a raise is in rder, perhaps
giving a BRIEF rund wn fwhat
your job entails.
DEAR SALLY: Lm a girl 414,
and have been t>aby-sitting for
Some very go. d friends f my
parents. The big problem is that
they often hire me during the
week and s imetimes I have to sit
until L.30 r 2 a.m, and then
I m terribly tired the following
day at sell . 1 And an other thing,
they pay me nly 40 cents an
hour, which is much L-wer than
some f my girl friends earn
for baby-sitting. What d > you
have to say about this 0 NIGHT
OWL
DEAR NIGHT OWL: A girl of
your age should not lie sitting
any later than 11 n sch > 1
nights, and >n weekends y -ur
limit should be netol:30. Fur-
therm re. I think these pe pie
have been taking advantage f
you and maybe f their friend
ship with your parents. F rty
cents is not a fair rate l>r baby
sitting. I don't know what the
average rate is in your com
munity, but in mine the rock
bottom is 60 cents an hour.
DEAR SALLY: My husband

S. Cannon, associate professor
of mathematics, serves as co
ordinator of PC computer acti

Dr. Chapman said the ter
minal will be especially useful
as a teaching and research tool
in assisting various depart
ments to integrate computer use
into ongoing programs. He said
the departments of business ad
ministration and economics,
mathematics and physics will be
among the first to make use of
the service. A seminar isplan-
