C., April 30, lOTO—S-C Legal Notice NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION (Referendum) NOTICE E HEREBY GIVEN That pursuant to Act No. 171 of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, Regular Session of 1967, approved the 18th day of April, 1967, a RE FERENDUM has been ordered by the Board of Trustees of LAURENS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT NUMBER 56, and will be held in said School District on TUESDAY, the 5th day of May, 1970, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified elec tors of said School District the question of whether or not the present property tax levy within said School District for school purposes to defray the cost of the annual budget of said School District shall be increased by ten (10) mills com mencing with the year 1970. The voting place in each at tendance area of said School District (and the precincts to vote at the respective voting place) shall be located and de signated as follows: In the Clinton attendance area (for electors registered in Clin ton No. 1, Clinton No. 2, Clin ton Mill, and Long Branch pre cincts) at the National Guard Armory on South Broad Street m the City of Clinton. In the Joanna attendance area (for electors registered in Jo anna, Hopewell, Renno, and Shady Grove precincts) at the at the Joanna Club House in the town of Joanna. In the Mountville attendance area (for electors registered in Mountville precinct) at the Mountville Grange Buulding in the M 'untville community. In the Cross Hill attendance area (for electors registered in Cross Hill precinct) at the Cross Hill City Hall in ttie Town of Cross Hill. In the Lydia attendance area (for electors registered in Ly dia Mill precinct) at the Lydia Community Building in the Lydia village. The polls will be opened at 8:00 o’clock in the forenoon and will be closed at 7:00 o' clock in the afternoon on the date fixed for the Referendum. Any qualified elector residing within said School District and presenting a valid registration certificate shall be eligible to vote in the Referendum. Ballots shall be provided which shall read as follows: “Shall the tax levy of School District Number 56 of Lau rens County be increased ten (10) mills? Yes -No- At the Referendum, each elector favoring the increased levy shall deposit a ballot bear ing the word “Yes”, and those opposed shall deposit a ballot bearing the word “No”. Managers of Election shall be appointed by the Board of Trus tees of said School District. The managers, at the conclu sion of the Referendum, shall forward all ballots to the county board of education which shall tabulate the results and declare the result of the Referendum.
