Mr. and Mrs. Jon Koenig and
son, Stevie, have returned to their
home in Bicknell, Ind. after being
called here because of the death
of her brother, Claude (Butch)
Grady Jr. and Steve Grady, also
called home has returned to Wes
tern Carolina University in
Cullewhee, N. C.
Misses Sue Word and Kathy
Weir spent the weekend at Myrtle
Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Burdette
spent Sunday in Iva with her sis
ter Miss Elizabeth Manning. Re
cent guests of the Burdettes were
his brother, Columbus Burdette
and Mrs. Burdette of Iva.
Mrs. W. P. Terrell, Mrs. Mil
dred Dickerson and Mr. and Mrs.
Freddie Dickerson and children
visited their daughter, sister and
aunt, Mrs. J. H. McPherson and
Mr. McPherson in Chester.

family and Miss Cindy Barlowe
spent Sunday in the South Caro
lina and North Carolina moun
tains.
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Johnson
visited his mother, Mrs. R. 9 G.

Mr. and Mrs. John Williams
and family of Morganton, N. C.
spent the weekend with his mo
ther, Mrs. Madeline Williams and
sister Mrs. Bill Hughes and Mr.
Hughes.
Mrs. Sidney Oakley has re
turned home after a visit with
her son and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Lewis Oakley in Rock
Hill.
RECEIVES ARMY DISCHARGE
Sp/5 Arthur Joe Sanders, son of
Rev. and Mrs. M. J. Sanders ar
rived home on last Thursday fol
lowing his discharge from the
U.S. Army on April 15 at Ft
Lewis, Wash. He has just com
pleted a year’s tour of duty in
Pleika, Vietnam.
S/Sgt Dick James of Ft. Knox,
Ky., is spending a 30 day leave
with his children, Debbie, Mick
ey and Renee and with his mo
ther, Mrs. Mark Conner, his sis
ter, Mrs. Jimmy South and Mr.

James’ children have been here
for two weeks and will make their
home here while he is on a tour of
duty in Korea.
Mrs. Conner and Mrs. South
were in Union last Thursday to
visit Mrs. Frank James of Whit
mire, who is a surgical patient
in the Wallace Thompson Hospi
tal.
Mrs. Alta Rollins of Clinton
spent Thursday with Mrs. Lillie
Belle Miller.
Mrs. Thelma Carter, Mr. and
Mrs. John Hinson and daughter
and Jerry Kee of Chester were
Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Mathis and Mr. and Mrs.
Bobby Webb.

Path was pleasantly surprised on
Sunday by his family with a birth
day dinner at the Lydia Communi
ty Building.

Youth Pageant
Bethel Temple Assembly of
God at 110 N. Owens St in Clin
ton extends an invitation to the
public to attend the sacred pa
geant to be held on Saturday
evening at 7:30 o’clock.
This program entitled, “I
Dreamed I Searched Heaven For
You”, is one of the most popu
lar sacred dramas presented in
the southeast
S is presented by a cast of 65
persons from Tuxedo, North
Carolina, beaded by Mr. James
A. Stepp.
Tree Snrvtvon
The maidenhair tree, also
known as the ginkgo, is
neither a fern, a pine tree
nor a hardwood, but a com
bination of all three. This is
one of two trees that have
survived to our day from the
Coal Age. The other is the
cycad, which is halfway be-
tween a fern and a palm.

After a bountiful dinner, Mr.
Gregory, a former Clinton resi
dent, was given gifts from his
family.

escing at her home after an ill
ness in Bailey Memorial Hospi
tal.
Mrs. Charlie James was to
undergo surgery on Monday at
Bailey Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Clee Satterfield was re
turned to the Bailey Memor
ial Hospital on Thursday evening.
She had just returned to her home
on Tuesday of last week.
Mrs. Joel McElhannon was to
enter Bailey Memorial Hospital
on Monday.
Mrs. Lidie Howard remains a
patient in Bailey Memorial Hos
pital.
Mrs. Ernest Blackwell was
a hospital patient last week.
