CLYDE Mrs. Claude Willard and Mr. Billy Willard were recent week end guests of their daughter and sister, Mrs. Vernon Ginn. Mr. Ginn and family in Swannanon, N. C. Mr. Timothy Williams was the guest speaker at Warrier Creek Baptist Church on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Williams with his mo ther, Mrs. Earl Williams and her sister, Miss Mary Jo Williams were recent visitors in Charles ton, visiting the Gardens while there. Mrs. Charlie James and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby James and child ren visited in Newberry on Tues day of Last week. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lawton and family of Orangeburg were weekend guests of their mothers, Mrs. Mac Forrester and Mr. Forrester and Mrs. J. B. Pat terson and Mr. Patterson. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Riddle were called to Laurens on Wed nesday of last week because of the death of her brother-in-law, Mr. H. F. Waddell. Funeral services were held on Thursday in Lau rens. Mr. and Mrs. W, R. Staggs of Ninety-Six were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gaskins. The Lydia Community was shocked and saddened on last Fri day evening when two of our young men, Claude (Butch) Grady Jr. and Mike Johnson were killed in an automobile accident. Butch had returned home on Tuesday after serving a tour of duty with the Marines in Vietnam and being wounded three times over there. Sympathy is extended to the Grady family and to the Johnson family in their loss. We extend sympathy also to the Holbert family in the death of their mother, Mrs. H. L. Holbert last week. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Segars and daughter, Melonie of Green ville were recent guests of Mrs. Segar’s sister, Mrs. Timothy Williams and Mr. Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Bennet of Chicago, 111. spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ballard. Mrs. Bennett re mained with her parents and other relatives for awhile. TRAMMELL, Sgt Robert Cook of Fort Bragg, N. C. was home for the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jennings Cook. Maxie Seay of Clinton also visited them. Mrs. Kathleen Willard and Billy of Durham, N. C. visited during the weekend with her mo ther, Mrs. Verner Dees. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Fuller and daughter of Columbia were week end guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Fuller. Danny Whitmore of Greenville will be speaking at the Lydia Church of God at both the morning and evening services on Sunday. Rev. Twenty-seven young friends of Dana’s enjoyed the happy occa sion. His mother, Mrs. Bo Brown with his siter.Miss. Cathy Brown and cousin, Miss Laura Darby were hostesses for the party. Dana’s birthday cake baked and decorated to resemble a baseball field was cut and served with po tato chips and cold drinks. He was remembered with many nice gifts. LYDIA PENTECOSTAL CHURCH WEEKEND SERVICES Beginning Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. services will be held through Sunday evening at the Lydia Pentecostal Holiness Church with Dr. J. For 1970, she presents trained horses, ponies and baby elephants. A champion baton twirier, she leads Hoxie Brothers’ spectacle. “The Good Old Days.” The three-rin<i circus will be in Clinton on Saturday, May 2, with performances at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. 'The circus will be located behind the Clinton YMCA, across from Clinton High School. Is there anything I can d<> about squeaking shoes? A. Try standing your noisy shoes overnight in a strong salt water solution, shallow enough to cover just the soles of the shoes. And if you want to preserve the shape of y,,ur shoes during this treatment, better use shoetrees. Q. What is a good way to warm up leftover meats 0 A. Place them in a pressure cooker, add three tablespoons of water, let the steam build up to the starting point, then remove from the fire, and let the presr sore go down. Q. W'hat can 1 do about grease stains on suede jackets, .bags, hats, shoes, and the like 0 A. Try sponging tnem with vinegar. Then, when dry, restore the nap by brushing with a stiff- bristled brush. Q. W'hat is a good formula for a whitewash for interior walls. A. Mix one pound of powder ed glue with one gallon of water. Then mix 20 pounds of hydrated lime with two gallons of water, stirring carefully until all lumps are dissolved. Combine these two mixtures, and stir until smooth. Finally, thin with water to a suit able consistency. Q. How can I make the washing of very greasy dishes muchea- sier? A. By squeezing lemon juice into your hot water before be ginning your chore.
