home on East Carolina Avenue
honoring Miss Barbara Keck of
Hickory, N. C.,bride-elect of
Terry F. Pitts, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Lewis C. Pitts.
Spring flowers were used
throughout tlie rooms. Miss Zelia
Fisher of Cayce, S. C. invited
the guest into the dining room
where refreshments were served
by Mrs. George E. Stone ofNew-
berry. Mrs. Edith McClellan of
Columbia presided at the punch
bowl. The table was laid with a
handmade cloth of Belgian linen
and lace, sent to Mrs. Pitts by
her husband while serving in the
European Theater of World War
n.
The hostess presented the hon-
oree with 16 pieces of flatware
in her chosen pattern.

Host Music Club
Members of the Clinton Music
Club were taken on a quick trip
through six countries by means
of slides and comments by Mrs.
Grace Connor as she gave the
program last Wednesday after
noon. At the April meeting of
the club held at the new home
of Mrs. J. Frost Walker on Cal
vert Ave., Mrs. Connor’s pro
gram entitled “An Art Presenta
tion” featured the art, architec
ture and sculpture, as well as the
natural beauty of Austria, Ger
many, Italy, Sweden, Thailand,
Cambodia, and Burma.
Assisting the hostesses, Mrs.
Walker, Mrs. James Shakespeare
and Mrs. Robert Johnson, were
Mrs. Henry Cronic and Mrs. F.
Vint Smith Jr., who poured tea
and coffee served with cake, salt
ed nuts and mints from a table
centered with spring flowers,
A detailed schedule for the
state convention of Music Clubs
to be held at the Poinsett Hotel
in Greenville, April 16, 17, & 18,
was given by Mrs. Alan Cook,
president of the club. Attention
was called to the many new fea
tures of the Springs Arts Festi
val to be held on the Presby
terian College campus April 20-
May 3. Art lecturers and exhi
bitors were named and special
interest centered in the an
nouncement that the Children’s
Theater of Greenwood will pre
sent “Alice in Wonderland” on
Saturday afternoon, May 2, as a
part of Family Day.

UDC Meeting
Mrs. P. M. Pitts was host to
the Stephen D. Lee Chapter of
the UDC for the regular March
meeting.
Mrs. Louda Miller opened the
meeting with a prayer, and the
ritual and salute to the flag was
given.
During a business session it
was announce that “History of
Southern Confederacy" by Ea
ton was presented to the libra
ries of Clinton High School, Clin
ton Junior High and Presbyter
ian College. Plans were made
for the observance of Memorial
Day, May 10. The traditional
green wreaths are to be placed
on the gates of the cemetery and
Confederate flags on graves of
Confederate soldiers.

Miss Sally Copeland Weds
William John Gerron, Jr.
On Saturday, April 4, at 4:30
in the afternoon, Miss Sally Caro
line Copeland became the bride
of William John Gerron Jr. the
First Presbyterian Church was
the scene of the double ring ce
remony with Rev. Edwin William
Rogers officiating.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Posey Watts Cope
land of Clinton. She was pre
sented at the 1967 Cotillion Ball
and is a graduate of the Uni
versity of Georgia. The groom,
who is a graduate of the Uni
versity of Texas, is the son of
Mrs. William John Gerron of
Austin, Texas and the late Mr.
Gerron.
Given in marriage by her fa
ther, the bride was lovely in a
gown of candlelight peau de soir
with alencon lace appliques. A
classic sabrina neckline and brief
lace sleeves were emphasizedby
the lace covered bodice. French
alencon was appliqued to the de
tachable train and to watteau pa
nels which fell from the gown’s
back waist. Her veil was a cathe
dral length mantilla of French
alencon lace on imported silk
illusion. She carried a modified
cascade of Tiara Roses with
miniature ivy.
Proceeding her to the altar was
her sister-in-law, Mrs. Posey
Watts Copeland Jr. of Sumter,
as matron of honor. Brides
maids were Mrs. Benjamin Fair
Copeland of Clinton, sister-in-
law of the bride, Mrs. W. Eu
gene Seago of Athens, Ga., Miss
Judith Ann Payne of Atlanta,
Ga., and Mrs. James H. Johnson

and will graduate from Gardner-
Webb College, Boiling Springs,

from a chiffon bow at the gown’s
back. Matching bonnets of braid
ed straw with back streamers
formed their headdresses. They
carried nosegays with Seventeen
Roses and Starburst pompoms
with summer velvet to match.
Mr. Gerron chose his bride’s
brother, Benjamin Fair Copeland
of Clinton, as best man. Ushers
were Posey Watts Copeland Jr.
of Sumter, brother of the bride,
Robert Lee Haskins of the United
States Coast Guard, Clyde E.
Foster and Clarence R. Turner,
both of Greenville. Little Benja
min Watts Copeland of Sumter
was ring bearer.
A program of nuptial music was
given by Mrs. James M. Pitts,
organist, and Mrs. Barbara Hel-
lams, soloist.
Following a reception given by
her parents in the church social
hall, Mrs. Gerron changed to a
dress and coat of light blue with
a matching petal hat. She chose
oyster accessories.
After a honeymoon in New Or
leans, Mr. and Mrs. Gerron will
make their home in Houston, Tex.

4 at the home of Mrs. John
Fulmer. Mrs. R. C. Hubbard was
hostess with Mrs. Fulmer.

were displayed throughout the
home.
The luncheon tables each cov
ered with pink linen were cen
tered with white crysanthemums
and Japanese cherry blossoms.
