Pitts entertain ed recently with a drop- in at her home on East Carolina Avenue honoring Miss Barbara Keck of Hickory, N. C.,bride-elect of Terry F. Pitts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis C. Pitts. Spring flowers were used throughout tlie rooms. Miss Zelia Fisher of Cayce, S. C. invited the guest into the dining room where refreshments were served by Mrs. George E. Stone ofNew- berry. Mrs. Edith McClellan of Columbia presided at the punch bowl. The table was laid with a handmade cloth of Belgian linen and lace, sent to Mrs. Pitts by her husband while serving in the European Theater of World War n. The hostess presented the hon- oree with 16 pieces of flatware in her chosen pattern. Out of town guest included Mrs. Albert H. Keck, Jr. mo ther of the bride-elect and Mrs. Lentferd Brittain of Hickory, N. C., Miss Idera Fulmer and Miss Lorene Fulmer of Columbia. Brantley-Webb Friends are invited to attend the April 26 wedding of Miss Diana Evelyn Brantley and Mar shall Daniel Webb of Clinton. The couple will be married at 3 p.m. at North Side Baptist Church, Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Repress Olin Brantley of 204 Melody Lane are parents of the bride-elect. She graduated from Greenwood High School and is a student in the licensed practical nursing course at Self Memorial Hospital. She is also employed at Sky City. The bridegroom-elect, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Pace, at tended the S. C. Opportunity School in Columbia and is employed at Raven Trailer Plant in Clinton. Also honoring Miss Keck was a bridal shower given at the Pitts home by Mrs. W. F. Werts Sr. of Newberry, Mrs. W. F. Werts, Jr., of Laurens and Mrs. Jimmie Harmon of West Columbia. At the April meeting of the club held at the new home of Mrs. J. Frost Walker on Cal vert Ave., Mrs. Connor’s pro gram entitled “An Art Presenta tion” featured the art, architec ture and sculpture, as well as the natural beauty of Austria, Ger many, Italy, Sweden, Thailand, Cambodia, and Burma. Assisting the hostesses, Mrs. Walker, Mrs. James Shakespeare and Mrs. Robert Johnson, were Mrs. Henry Cronic and Mrs. F. Vint Smith Jr., who poured tea and coffee served with cake, salt ed nuts and mints from a table centered with spring flowers, A detailed schedule for the state convention of Music Clubs to be held at the Poinsett Hotel in Greenville, April 16, 17, & 18, was given by Mrs. Alan Cook, president of the club. Attention was called to the many new fea tures of the Springs Arts Festi val to be held on the Presby terian College campus April 20- May 3. Art lecturers and exhi bitors were named and special interest centered in the an nouncement that the Children’s Theater of Greenwood will pre sent “Alice in Wonderland” on Saturday afternoon, May 2, as a part of Family Day. Mrs. Pitts Host UDC Meeting Mrs. P. M. Pitts was host to the Stephen D. Lee Chapter of the UDC for the regular March meeting. Mrs. Louda Miller opened the meeting with a prayer, and the ritual and salute to the flag was given. During a business session it was announce that “History of Southern Confederacy" by Ea ton was presented to the libra ries of Clinton High School, Clin ton Junior High and Presbyter ian College. Plans were made for the observance of Memorial Day, May 10. The traditional green wreaths are to be placed on the gates of the cemetery and Confederate flags on graves of Confederate soldiers. oH you con eat Mrs. Hugh Bonds Workman gave a report on John C. Cal houn, Martin W. Gary and Wade Hampton for the observance of Red Letter Days. Mrs. C. B. Betts who was in charge of the program used as her subject “North Carolina and Her Role During The Confed eracy*. The hostesses, Miss Louise Kern, Mrs. E. K. Adair, Mrs. Murray and Mrs. Pitts served a delicious salad course, cake, tea and coflee. Miss Sally Copeland Weds William John Gerron, Jr. On Saturday, April 4, at 4:30 in the afternoon, Miss Sally Caro line Copeland became the bride of William John Gerron Jr. the First Presbyterian Church was the scene of the double ring ce remony with Rev. Edwin William Rogers officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Posey Watts Cope land of Clinton. She was pre sented at the 1967 Cotillion Ball and is a graduate of the Uni versity of Georgia. The groom, who is a graduate of the Uni versity of Texas, is the son of Mrs. William John Gerron of Austin, Texas and the late Mr. Gerron. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride was lovely in a gown of candlelight peau de soir with alencon lace appliques. A classic sabrina neckline and brief lace sleeves were emphasizedby the lace covered bodice. French alencon was appliqued to the de tachable train and to watteau pa nels which fell from the gown’s back waist. Her veil was a cathe dral length mantilla of French alencon lace on imported silk illusion. She carried a modified cascade of Tiara Roses with miniature ivy. Proceeding her to the altar was her sister-in-law, Mrs. Posey Watts Copeland Jr. of Sumter, as matron of honor. Brides maids were Mrs. Benjamin Fair Copeland of Clinton, sister-in- law of the bride, Mrs. W. Eu gene Seago of Athens, Ga., Miss Judith Ann Payne of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. James H. Johnson Mr. and Mrs. William Erskine Adair Sr. of Milam Road Clin ton announce the engagement of their daughter, Polly Ann, to Thomas Lawrence Copeland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leisel Law rence Copeland, Jr. of 515 Mus- gove Street, Clinton. The bride-elect, a graduate of Clinton High School wiU grad uate from Winthrop College in May. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Louis Nelson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Erskine Holland Adair of Clinton. The groom-elect is also a graduate of Clinton High School and will graduate from Gardner- Webb College, Boiling Springs, N. C. in July. He is the grand son of Mr. Leisel Lawrence Copeland, Jr. and the late Mrs. Lou Belle Pitts Copeland of Clin- Jr. of Birmingham, Ala. Little Misses Jenny Copeland of Sum ter, niece of the bride, and An na HaskinofGreenwood were jun ior bridesmaids. Dressed alike, the attendants wore cherry pink full length gowns of chiffon over taffeta with flowing bishop sleeves and scoop necklines. A watteau panel fell from a chiffon bow at the gown’s back. Matching bonnets of braid ed straw with back streamers formed their headdresses. They carried nosegays with Seventeen Roses and Starburst pompoms with summer velvet to match. Mr. Gerron chose his bride’s brother, Benjamin Fair Copeland of Clinton, as best man. Ushers were Posey Watts Copeland Jr. of Sumter, brother of the bride, Robert Lee Haskins of the United States Coast Guard, Clyde E. Foster and Clarence R. Turner, both of Greenville. Little Benja min Watts Copeland of Sumter was ring bearer. A program of nuptial music was given by Mrs. James M. Pitts, organist, and Mrs. Barbara Hel- lams, soloist. Following a reception given by her parents in the church social hall, Mrs. Gerron changed to a dress and coat of light blue with a matching petal hat. She chose oyster accessories. After a honeymoon in New Or leans, Mr. and Mrs. Gerron will make their home in Houston, Tex. ton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Morman Sims of Union. Poole was installed as 1st vice president and Mrs. N. A. Mrs. R. C. Hubbard was hostess with Mrs. Fulmer. Arrangements of spring flow ers in shades of pink and white were displayed throughout the home. The luncheon tables each cov ered with pink linen were cen tered with white crysanthemums and Japanese cherry blossoms. Place cards held tiny pastel butterflies denoting happiness- After lunch the hostesses pre sented Miss Keck with a gift of silver for her future home. Her mother Mrs. Albert Keck of Hickory was a special guest along with others from out of town including Miss Zelia Fisbersen, Miss Lorene Ful mer and Miss Idera Fulmer from Columbia. Maxine Duncan and Mary Edith Fulmer assisted with the serving. Miss Seawright Married WARE SHOALS - Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Severn Luker left for a Florida honeymoon following their marriage Saturday at 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. A reception followed in the church social hall. The bride, the former Dannie Lee Seawright, is employed by Ruby’s Beauty Shop in Clinton, having studied atStyle Rite Beau ty College. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Price Seawright of Green Acres Drive. The groom works for Internat ional Paper Co. in Greenwood. He is a veteran of four years service in the Navy and a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Fay Lu ker of the Donalds Highway at Donalds. Mrs. John Walker Isbill of Athens, Ga., was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Curtis Fuller of Laurens; Mrs. Jack A. Seawright of Gaines ville, Fla.; Mrs. Talmadge Luker of Hodges and Mrs. Ray Gates of Donalds.
