Newberry Students
Practice Teach
In Clinton Schools
NEWBERRY - Three new faces
were in Clinton area schools last
week as student teachers from
Newberry College began their
seven-week training program in
the county school system.
A total of 48 seniors began
their teaching assignments in
elementary and secondary
schools in South Carolina and
Virginia. The future teachers will
gradually assume the full teach
ing responsibilities in the class
room working under the sigwrvi-
sioo of a classroom teacher in
the assigned school and the De
partment of Education at New
berry College.
School systems participating
with Newberry College in the stu
dent teaching program are Cayce,
Clinton, Irmo, Lexington, Little
Mountain, Newberry, Prosperity,
Saluda, Summerville, and Un
ion in South Carolina and Alex
andria in Virginia.
The student teachers will re
turn to the college classroom
April 27.
The newcomers in the Clinton
schools are as follows: Judy
Elaine Noe, from Crescent
Beach, teaching band in Clinton
High; and Mrs. Cathy Arrington
Mitchell from Clinton and Miss
Elizabeth N. Allman from Joanna,
teaching in Mercer Silas Bailey
Elementary.
