Mrs. Jimmy South and Mike
and Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Wil
liams spent the weekend in Ft.
Knox, Ky., with the former’s mo
ther, Mrs. Mark Conner and her
brother, S/Sgt. Dickie James and
children.
Miss Priscilla Gaskins of An
derson was home for Thursday
and Friday of last week with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gas
kins.
Mrs. W. L. Motte, Mrs. Den-
ford Wyatt and children and Miss
Dianne Lawson were recent
guests of Mrs. Motte’s brother
and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Jessie Attaway in Saluda.

A. How can I remove crayon
stains from washable materials?
A. By sponging with carbon
tetrachloride or other cleaning
fluid. Use hot water and soap for
cottons and linens, warm for silks
and rayons. If traces still re
main after the fabric has dried,
sponge with denatured alcohol,
diluting the alcohol with two parts
of water for use on rayons or
colored fabrics. Javelle water
can be used as a last resort on
cottons, linens, and rayons.
Q. What is the best way to
shampoo furniture ig)holstery?
A. Make a rich soap lather,
and apply only the LATHER with
a cloth or brush -- making sure
not to get the upholstery wet.
Wipe off with a cloth or sponge

Q. How can I remove scorch
stams?
A. If a garment is scorched,
rub onion juice into the stains
immediately after the accident
happens. This will remove the
spots if they have not become too
badly burned.
Q. How can I treat scratches
on furniture?
A. These can often be obliter
ated by wiping off with a solu
tion of equal parts boiled lin
seed oil, turpentine, and white
vinegar. Stir these ingredients
well, and apply with a soft woolen
cloth. Then polish withadry lint-
less cloth.
A. How can I keep the colors
in silk fabrics from running when
washing?
A. Any colored silk fabric re
quires careful washing. One
should never allow it to become
terribly soiled after washing.
When washing, add a little salt
to cold water, to prevent the color
from running.
Q. How can I cope with the
top of a fingernail polish bottle
when it stubbornly refuses to
budge?
A. Turn the bottle upside down
and put a drop or two of fin
gernail polish remover around
the edges of the cap, let stand
for a lew seconds, then turn
the bottle right side ip, and the
cap will usually turn right oft
Q. What is an easy way to
remove decals without damage to
the finish underneath them?
A. Cover the decals with a wet
washcloth, then press a hot iron
over the doth. Within a tew
minutes the steam will soften up
the old decal to permit its easy
removal.
Q. How can I make tomato jelly
salad?
A. Boil until thick, one quart
of tomatoes, one bay leaf, one
pinch salt, one pinch cayenne.
Strain; add one ounce good gela
tin, and dissolve in water. Place
in molds, then refrigerate. Serve
on lattaoe with dressing.

erson and daughter who have
been with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Scott in Nipley, Ky.,
and Mr. ScotF spent several days
last week with Sgt. Dickerson’s
mother, Mrs. Mildred Dickerson
and grandmother, Mrs. W. P.
Terrell. Sgt. Dickerson left Fri
day for his new station in El
Paso, Texas and Mrs. Dickerson
and daughters returned home with
her father. Mr. Gartrell Andrews
and daughters, Janice and Carol
of Commerce, Ga., were weekend
guests of his sister, Mrs. Terrell
and on Sunday her daughter, Mrs.
J. H. McPherson visited the fami
ly.
Mr. R. E. Whitmire and Mr.
and Mrs. AllenWhite have visited
Mrs. Whitmire in the Greenville
General Hospital several times
since she has been a patient there.
Mrs. Fred Bodie and Mrs. Jack
Pitts and children visited their
daughter and sister, Mrs. Jimmy
Berry and Mr. Berry in Fork
Shoals Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Mary Fallaw with her
granddaughter, Lisa Rippy of
Clemson, who was visiting her
spent a few days with Mr. and
Mrs. David Storay in Greenville
last week.
CANTATA SUNDAY MORNING
The Lydia Baptist Church
Choir will present the Easter
Cantata, “Were You There” at
the 11 o’clock worship hour Sun
day morning.
Mr. Andy Ellis, choir director
will be the baritone soloist and
Mr. Malcolm Sanders will be the
bass soloist. The duet part will
be by Misses Lizanne Wright and
Beth Harvey.
The public in invited to join
the ohurch people in hearing this
beautiful Easter music.
Rev. M. J. Sanders is pastor
of the church.

The Ordinance of the Lord’s
Supper will be Sunday evening
at 7:30 p.m. at the Lydia Baptist
Church.
