Last week, report cards came
out again. As always, there were
some happy students and some
sad ones. In the seventh grade,
21 students made all A's and 29
made nothing below a B. In the
eighth grade nine students made
all A’s and 29 made nothing be
low a B.
Claude Crocker broke his foot
while playing basketball last
week. While Claude is getting
much attention with his auto
graphed cast, Harry Baldwin is
having fun on Claude’s crutches.
Some members of the eighth
grade are working hard on the
play “Shock of His Life,” which
will be given at an early date.

FACTS
By Tom Plaxico
Did you know there was once a man who made
almost 1-million dollars a day EVERY DAY for
years! He was King Saud, who was king of Saudi
Arabia from 1953 to 1964. He had an income of
more than 300-million dollars a year or almost 1-
million dollars a day from oil rights and other rev
enue.
Can you imagine celebrating New Year’s Day
in March? Few people know that in England and
America many years ago, New Year's Day was ac
tually March 26. It was not changed to January 1
until the present calendar was adopted in 1762.
Did you know the Red Cross got its name by
simply reversing the colors of the flag of Switzer
land, the country where the Red Cross was found
ed? Switzerland’s flag was a white cross on a
red background.
And here’s another interesting fact . . .
The latest issue of “THE CHEVROLET STO
RY 1911-1970” is just out This book lists 68
“FIRSTS” in engineering and/or styling for Chev
