Dear Sally
DEAR SALLY: Last night while
I was out with the boy I have
been dating for the past several
weeks, he suddenly asked me who
“Randy" was. Since Randy hap
pens to be a boy I dated more
than a year ago until he and his
family moved out of town, and
since I had never mentioned him
to this boy, I was very much
puzzled as to how he found out
about him. Then it developed
that while he was waiting in our
living room for me to appear
he had opened and read a letter
I had received from Randy that
day and had inadvertently left on
an end table in the living room.
I don’t think this was very nice,
do you? LYNN.
DEAR LYNN: The boy has re
vealed himself as without princi
ples! Tell him goodbye!
DEAR SALLY: I’m the private
secretary of the vice president
of a large firm, but sometimes
I seem to be doing as much work
for his wife as I do for him.
She is a socially active woman
and on numerous committees, and
I am called upon constantly to
type and address dozens of let
ters for her. I think this is gross
ly unfair, my being compelled to
do another woman’s work for her!
Don’t you agree with me?SLAVE.
DEAR SLAVE: Sorry, but no.
You are this man’s private se
cretary, paid a salary to perform
the work he assigns to you, and
if part of that work includes
some of his wife’s social activi
ties, accept it as part of your
job and stop griping about it
DEAR SALLY: I’ve been happi
ly married for only five months,
but today I received an earth-
shattering jolt. While I was
getting one of my husband’s suits
ready for the dry-cleaner, I found
a snapshot of one of his former
steady girl friends in the inside
coat pocket. This has really upset
me! So far I haven’t said any
thing to him about it. Do you
think I should? DISILLUSIONED.
DEAR DISILLUSIONED: Cer
tainly you should clear the air
by telling him of your find. There
Just might be a simple and logical
explanation for the presence of
the picture in his pocket. I hope
so.

DEAR SALLY: I’m a fellow of
22, and I have a good buddy now
serving overseas with the army. I
happen also to be good friends
with his fiancee here at home and
know she must be terribly lone
some. Do you think it would be
all right as a n act of friend
ship if I were to take her out
once in awhile? BUDDY.
DEAR BUDDY: Maybe -- but
ONLY after you have written to
your friend and received his okay.
