On last Thursday, Bell Street
High was honored to have as
its guest speaker Attorney Ed
ward A. Wilson of Los Angeles,
California. Attorney Wilson was
accompanied by his family and
is the brother of Mrs. Mattie
B. Hudson, librarian at Bell
Street.
Attorney Wilson spoke to the
student body on the subject “Op
portunities available to young
people after graduating from
high school and the attainment
of a college education.” Mar
garet Price was in charge of
devotion, Mrs. Cynthia Pruitt
introduced the speaker, after
which we were favored wit h a
solo by Janice Pitts accompan
ied by Miss Waltine Young, Mu
sic Director.

the title “Star Student,” because
of his outstanding achievements

sored locally by the Exchange
Club of Clinton, S. C.

week enclude placement of a large
billboard sign between the rail
road tracks emphasizing Crime
Prevention Week posters in lo
cal businesses, encouraging lo
cal ministers to have sermons
relating to crime rate in our
country, and inviting local police
men, county deputies, and high
way patrolmen to our Crime
Prevention Program at our re
gular meeting on February 9,
1970 with the guest speaker be
ing a representative from the FBI
office in Columbia.
REACT is the theme for this
year’s crime prevention cam
paign,” Mr. Leonard stated. ‘It’s

crime.”

ity Building honoring Kathy Gar
rett, who celebrated her 13th
birthday. Refreshments consist
ing of sandwiches, Pepsi, pickles,
and chips were served, highlight
ed with a lovely birthday cake
topped with trick candles which
relighted each time they were
blown out. Kathy was present
ed a corsage in her favorite
color and many gifts. A full
evening of fun was had by all.
