Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Lark were called to Easley last week be cause of the death of his mother, Mrs. Ben Lark. Funeral services were held Saturday in Easley. Sympathy is extended to them in their bereavement. Mr. and Mrs. Houston Thread and sons of Baxley, Ga., were recent guests of his sister, Mrs. Jessie Abercrombie and Mr.Ab ercrombie. Mr. and Mrs. Furman Bratcher visited Mr. and Mrs. Edd Stil- man in Ninety-SixSunday. After ward they were supper guests of Mrs. Bratcher’s mother, Mrs. W. G. Culbertson in Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. 0. C. Harris of Laurens were Sunday guests of Mrs. Alma Harvey and family. Friends of Mrs. Harris will be interested to know that she was to undergo surgery at the Laurens District Hospital on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Broadus Cooper of Great Falls visited their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Cooper on Wednes day of last week. On Sunday the Calvin Coopers visited Mr. and Mrs. Chris Beukema in Liber ty. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Sexton home, and Mr. and Mrs. Luke Fuller of Greenwood visited Mr. Full er's mother, Mrs. J. W. Fuller and sister, Mrs. Lois Pos on Sunday. Mrs. Pos spent several days last week in Joanna with her daughter, Mrs. Maxie Reeder and Mr. Reeder. CLASS MEETING TONIGHT The Willing Workers Sunday School Class of the Lydia Baptist Church will meet Thursday (to night) at the church. All members please attend at 7 p.m. BAPTIST MEN’S DAY SUNDAY Baptist Men’s Day at the Lydia Baptist Church will begin with the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. with all men of the church invited. At 11 a.m. the men will be in charge of the service with a men's choir. Special music will be by a men’s trio. Mr. Bill Cauble and Mr. James McElhannon will be speakers for the morning service. At 7:30 p.m. Mr. Roland Re- vis will be the speaker. Special music will be rendered by Mr. Frank House, choir direc tor and soloist at Rock Bridge Presbyterian Church. He will be succeeded as grocery manager at the Clinton Piggly Wiggly by Bobby McCutchen, right. Horton was an active member of the Clinton Jaycees, serving as treas urer, first vice-president and acting president. He has served as chairman of the Clinton Christmas Parade and the ‘Battle of the Bands’ contest. He was treasurer of Cub Scout Pack 194. McCutcheon was employed by Sealtest for seven years and was self-employed for three years prior to joining Pig gly Wiggly. J.W. Jeffers, formerly of Batesburg, has begun operation of two city buses with regular schedules covering both Lydia and Clinton Cotton Mills, accord ing to a commercial announce ment in today’s paper. The annual Roosevelt ball will be in the Joanna school audito rium Saturday evening beginning at 8 o’clock with round and square dancing. Bedenbaugh visited Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Crofit in Greenville last Thurs day. Their granddaughter, Stacy, returned home with them for the Dial 697-6949 weekend. The Crofts returned the visit on Sunday and she returned with them. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Barber, Ricky and Ron and Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Davis, and Reed spent Sunday in Morganton, N.
