Jr. of Mountville, as District
Manager of the 1970 U. S. Cen
sus of Population and Housing in
this area was announced today b)
Director Joseph R. Norwood of
the Census Bureau's Regional
Office in Charlotte, N. C.
A native of Saluda, Mr. Crouch
was educated at Bailey Military
Academy, Greenwood, and at
Wofford College. He has been em
ployed by the Corps of Engineers,
and operated businesses in Clin
ton and Laurens. Until his re
tirement in August, 1969, he was
an engineer with the S. C. State
Highway Department. While with
that department he was noted for
his interest in and promotion of
safety. Mr. Crouch is active in
the civic and political affairs of
Laurens County, and is well
known throughout this area.

Capt. Jerry Wayne Edwards
has joined the Presbyterian Col
lege ROTC staff after an assign
ment at Fort Benning, Ga., fol
lowing action in Vietnam.
A native of St. Albans, W. Va.,
and 1965 graduate of West Vir
ginia State College, he spent two
years in Germany with the Third
Armored Division's mechanized
infantry battalion. He then served
fur a year with the First In
fantry Division in Vietnam and,
upwn return to the States, attend
ed the Infantry Officers’Advanc
ed Course at Fort Benning.
Capt. Edwards is now train
ing as a logistics expert under
the Army's Officer SpecialtyCa- 1
reer program. He brings wife Ce
cilia with him to Clinton, and they
are Methodists.

Deadline Nears

high schools in Laurens County
that the completed reporting form
for their STAR Student must be
returned before January 23.
This form is returned to the
S. C. State Chamber of Com
merce, Columbia. There are no
additional forms available lo
cally, as they were mailed from
the State Chamber office.
As stated above, to be con
sidered in the judging for
the Laurens County STAR Stu
dent completed forms must be
returned before January 23. The
STAR Students of Laurens Coun
ty will be honored and the County
STAR Student announced some
time during February, the date to
be announced.
