COMMUNITY SURVEY CITY HAUL PETITION GET-OUT-TO-VOTE CAMPAIGN CUB SCOUT PACK— Solicited the public to get opinions as to what Clinton needed most. Publicized the referendum choices and went door to door to get signatures—Jay cees were impartial. The day before the city election every person in the phone book was called and reminded to vote. Transportation w a s provided when needed. Pack 194 started for boys aged 8-11. Field trips—Pinewood Derby. Jr. CHAMP—Golf, Tennis, Track— For young people of city to compete and finalists attend state meetings. LITEA-BIKE SOFTBALL - BASKETBALL- MISS CLINTON CONTEST- CHRISTMAS PARADE- STOCKING FUND— HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL- V HONEY DOLL SALE- BATTLE OF BANDS Co-sponsored by YMCA — Try to get all children with bikes to meet at Armory— taught safety rules, given tests for bike skills—reflectorized tape is put on all bikes. Leagues formed between churches, indus tries and Jaycees for recreation and adult physical education. Beauty queen to represent Hinton in state contest. Organizing and getting entries. 40 needy children are carried shopping at expense of Jaycees and donations from the city—given a party and meal. Jaycees built booths. All proceeds go to retarded children fund. Sponsored twice annually—3 objectives: (1) to develop and expose musical talents of young people; (2) Create sportsman like competition; (3) Give younger people “clean” social activity.
