Moe, wife of Cleo B. Wallenzine,
of 101 Washington St., died Thurs
day.
She was a native of Newberry
County, but had lived in Clinton
fbr 48 years. She was a daughter
of the late William and Corrie
Wheeler Reeder. She was a mem
ber of the Old Timer’s Club,
was a retired employe of Clinton
Mills and a member of the Bai
ley Memorial United Methodist
Church.
Surviving also are a daugh
ter, Mrs. Margaret W. Martin
of the home; and a sister, Mrs.
Roy Dominick of Lexington.
Funeral services were held
Saturday at Bailey Memorial U-
nited Methodist Church. Burial
was in Rosemont Cemetery.
T. L Stevens
JOANNA - Thomas E. Stevens
Jr., 87, of 527 Browning Avenue,
died Thursday.
He was a native of Chesterfield
County, but had lived in Joanna
for 40 years. He was a son of
the late Thomas Elvin and Sal-
lie Railey Stevens Sr. He was a
retired employe of Joanna Mills,
a member of the Old Timers
Club and the First Baptist
Church.
Surviving are five daughters,
Mrs. Virgil Holley, with whom he
lived, Mrs. James Stogner of
Joanna, Mrs. Claude Lever of
North Augusta and Mrs. Fran
cis Augustine and Mrs. Charles
Fowler of Aiken; two sons, El
vin Stevens of Aiken and Robert
L. Stevens of Spartanburg; and 19
grandchildren and 16 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Friday at Gray Funeral Home.
Burial was in Rosemont Ceme
tery.
H. A. Williams
Funeral services for Hugh A.
Williams, 47, were held Thurs
day, Dec. 11, at Gray Funeral
Home with burial in Pinelawn
Memory Gardens.
Mr. Williams died last Wed
nesday, Dec. 10, in an automobile
accident.
A native of Hartwell, Ga., he
had lived in Clinton for eight
years. He was owner of Riddle’s
Jewelry Store in Laurens and
was a member of theS. C. Jewel
ers Association. He also was a
member of Broad Street United
Methodist Church and was a vet
eran of World War n. Prior to
purchasing Riddle’s Jewelry
Store, he managed Hamilton’s
Jewelry Store in Clinton.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Sarah Timmons Williams;
two sons, Mike and Steve Will
iams of the home; three sisters,
Mrs. Otto King and Mrs. Ranie
Wilson of Hartwell and Mrs. Lew
is Baker of Greenwood; three
brothers, Henry, Charles and
Harold Williams of Hartwell.

Funeral services for Dwight L.
Moody Sr., 69, were held Friday
at Gray Funeral Home with burial
in Rosemont Cemetery.
Mr. Moody died Wednesday,
Dec. 10.
A native of Alabama, he had
lived in Laurens County for 40
years. He was a retired employe
of Joanna Mills and was a mem
ber of First Baptist Church of
Joanna.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Beatrice Tyner Moody; a
daughter, Miss Patricia Gail
Moody of the home; two sons,
Dwight L. Moody Jr. of Colum
bia and Brent Moody of Clinton;
and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the
Laurens County Cancer Society.

Edward Woriker
Funeral services for Edward
Walker, 27, were held Sunday at
Bethlehem Baptist Church near
Clinton. Burial was in the church
cemetery.
Mr. Walker died Tuesday, Dec.
9, in a Greenville hospital where
be was being treated for burns
received in a fire in which six
of his children and a nephew died.
A veteran of World War n,
he was a son of Mrs. Annie
Mae Shields of Chicago, m.
Other survivors include his
wife, Mrs. Mary Ann Walker of
Clinton; three sisters, Mrs.Rosa
Lee Goodman of Fiber ton, Ga.,
Mrs. Barbara Garrett of Lau
rens and Mrs. Brenda Ann Walk
er of Chicago, 111.; four brothers,
Sgt. Wade Walker Jr. of Texas,
Fred Walker and Charles Jones of
Princeton, Ky., and R. L. Wal
ker of Clinton.
Thompson’s Mortuary was in
charge of arrangements.
G. E. Metis
Glenn Efrid Metts, 27,ofWhit-
ten Village, died Thursday.
He was born at Little Mountain,
son of Calvin Efrid and Ruth
Dowd Metts. He had spent most
of his life at Whitten Village.
Surviving also are two sis
ters, Mrs. Judy Farr of Pros
perity and Mrs. Jackie Wiggers
of Clinton.
Funeral services were held
Friday at Mt. Tabor Lutheran
Church. Burial was in the church
cemetery.
Colie Glasgow
Funeral services for Colie
Glasgow, 42, who died Friday,
were held Tuesday at Mt. Zion
AME Church in Newberry County.
Burial was in the church ceme
tery.
A native of Newberry County,
he was a World War II veteran,
long-time employe with Bond
Lumber Co., and amemlter ofthe
Mt. Zion AME Church.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs.
Ella Bell Harris of Charlotte;
and a half-brother, James Hig
gins of Kinard.
Children's Library
Closes For Holidays
The Children’s Library will be
closed during Christmas week
with the exception of Tuesday af
ternoon, Dec. 23, at which time
the Story Hour will be held at
the usual time, 3:30 - 4:30.
Mrs. Georgia Young, child
ren’s librarian, states that all
overdue books should be return
ed before the end of the year.

At the evening worship, a skit
depicting the Christmas story
will be given by the Youth Group
of the Baptist Training Union.
Music at this time will be fur
nished by the Junior and Youth
Choirs.
A Vesper Service will be held
at the church at five o’clock on
Wednesday afternoon. This will
take the place ofthe regular Wed
nesday evening Prayer Service.
The public is invited to all
services of this church.
Bingham Receives
laycee Physical
Fitness Award
An award is given each year
by the United States Jaycees to
the man who has led his com
munity in physical fitness lead
ership over the past year. The
individual chapters elect a man
out of the community and send
him to the state level of compe
tition.
Mr. Bingham has developed
programs in physical fitness for
the Greater Clinton area. He has
also developed programs in phy
sical education and recreation.
Through his hard work and de
termination the individual enroll
ment in the YMCA programs ran
well over 8,000 with a total at
tendance in all programs of more
than 300,000 over the past two
years. If Mr. Bingham wins at
the state level he will win a free
trip to Washington to compete
on the National level.

held in the CITY OF CLINTON,
SOUTH CAROLINA, on Tuesday,
the 10th day of February, 1970, for
the purpose ofelectingbyadirect
vote of a qualified electors of
the City of Clinton a Mayor of
the City of Clinton for a term
commencing February 16th, 1970,
and terminating August 31st, 1970.
The polling places for said
General Election shall be as fol
lows: Clinton No. 1 at City Hall;
Clinton No. 2 at National Guard
Armory on South Broad Street;
and Clinton Mill at Clinton Mill
Community House.
The polls shall be opened at
