Shoplifting is a serious social problem costing citi
zens of Laurens County thousands of dollars an
nually. Merchants are responding to their civic ob
ligation by intensifying their efforts in cooperation
with the City Police Department and the County
Sheriff's Department to apprehend all shoplifters,
bring them to court and seek conviction and maxi
mum punishment under the provisions of the law.
