JOANNA - Mrs. MyrUe (Pen
ny) Brewington, 41, of 601 Mil-
ton Road, wife of John H. Brew
ington, died Saturday.
She was a native of Newberry
and had lived in Clinton and Jo
anna since 1937. She was a daugh
ter of the late Henry and Myr
tle Lessie King. She was an em
ploye of Clinton Mills and at
tended First Baptist Church of
Joanna.
Surviving also are two daugh
ters, Mrs. Perrie Rowe of Jo
anna and Miss Johnette Brewing-
ton of the home; three sisters,
Mrs. Carrie Gertrude Smith of
Union, Mrs. Nellie Jean Motes
and Mrs. Mary Allene Kay of
Clinton; three brothers, Henry W.
King, of Nashville, Tenn., and
Kelly and Chestley King of
Clinton; and a grandchild.
Funeral services were held
Monday at Calvary Baptist
Church, Clinton, with burial in
Rosemont Cemetery.
William Long
William Long, 62, of Rose Hill,
died Saturday.
He was an employe of School
District 56, and was a son of
Mrs. Stella Long Choice of Clin
ton.
Surviving also are his wife,
Mrs. Emma L?e Watson Long;
two daughters, Mrs. CoraSegars
of Washington, D. C., and Mrs.
Thelma Williams of Clinton; and
his stepfather, Hugie Choice of
Clinton.
Funeral services were held
Friday at Hebron Baptist Church.

Graveside services for Isadore
Brasswell, 75, of Whitten Village,
who died Wednesday, were con
ducted Wednesday, Nov. 26, at
Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery,
Greenville.
He was a son of the late Fran

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs.
Rebecca Burgess of Greenville
and Mrs. Lake Waldrep of Co

Mrs. Campbell
Mrs. Minnie O. Campbell,
80, of 401 Academy St., widow
of A. F. Campbell, died Sunday.
She was a native of Spartan
burg County but had lived in Clin
ton for 72 years. She was a daugh
ter of the late Robert Belton and
Anne Wofford O’Shields. She was
one of the first employes of Clin
ton Mills where she worked 54
years before retiring in 1954.
She was a member of Bailey Me
morial Methodist Church. Her
first husband was the late Wil
liam Montjoy.
Surviving are four daughters,
Mrs. Evie Johnson of Joanna,
Mrs. Ruby Holtzclaw of Clinton,
Mrs. Elsie Warren ofCharleston
and Mrs. Medora Whitman of
Clinton; two sons, Estess Camp
bell of Clinton and Fred Camp
bell of Laurens; a step-daughter,
Mrs. Vallie Stewart of Clinton;
two stepsons, Joe and Grange
Campbell of Clinton; two sisters,
Mrs. Annie Cole of Jacksonville,
Fla., and Mrs. Robbie Francis of
Joanna; a brother, WiUO’Shields
of Joanna; and 27 grandchildren;
31 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday at Bailey Memorial Me
thodist Church. Burial was in
Rosemont Cemetery.

MOUNTVILLE - G. C. Watts,
85, died Saturday.
He was a lifelong resident of
Laurens County, son of the late
Jim Koon and Lou Ella Pinson
Watts. He was a retired farm
er, merchant, and the oldest
member of Mountville Baptist
Church. He was former superin
tendent of the Sunday School and
was chairman of the Democratic
party precinct in Mountville for
53 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Mary Boyd Watts; three daugh
ters, Mrs. Lou Ella Carter of
Mountville, Mrs. Eliza Tolbert of
Greenwood and Mrs. Sally Kinard
of Ehrhardt; four sons, J. H.,
Thomas E., and RichardD. Watts
Sr. of Clinton and Walter Watts
of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Mrs.
Lillie K. Hardigree of Winder,
Ga.; three brothers, L. T. and
G. H. Watts of Mountville and
John G. Watts of Whitmire; 29
grandchildren and 48 great
grandchildren.

ducted Monday at Mountville Bap

She was a native of Lyons,
Ga., daughter of the late Oscar
and Wynie Lott Wilkes.

Horton Jr. of Laurens; a bro
ther, Boyd Wilkes of Clinton; a
sister, Mrs. InezSkinner of Pem
broke, Ga.; and a half-sister,
Mrs. Mary Carver of Uvalda,
Ga.

Sunday at Bellview Baptist
Church. Burial was In Rosemont
Cemetery, Clinton.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Maude Hawkins Burgess; four

Mrs. Burdette
WARE SHOALS - Mrs. Ze-
lemma T. Burdette, 79, of Fair-
view Avenue, died Saturday. She
was a sister of Clifton Thoma
son of Clinton.
Other survivors include three
daughters, two sons, two sisters,
another brother, 12 grandchild
ren and eight great-grand
children.
Funeral services were con
ducted Sunday at Ware Shoals
United Methodist Church with
burial in Greenwood Memorial
Gardens.
Clyde Williams
Clyde Williams, 42, of Rose
Hill, died Tuesday, Nov. 25.
He was an employe of C.W.S.
Guano Co., son of David G. Wil
liams of Clinton and the late
Susie Jacks Williams. He was a
member of Antioch AME Church.
Surviving also are his step
mother, Mrs. Hanna WiUiams of
Clinton; a son, James Williams of
Clinton; two brothers, Clarence
and Eugene Williams of Clinton;
and three sisters, Mrs. Fran
cis Jones and Mrs. Susie Red-
field of Laurens and Mrs. Nancy
Gray of CUnton.
