Last Tuesday the band per formed at the Veteran’s Day ser vice at the Laurens County Fair Grounds. With its snappy new uniforms the band’s appearance is excelled only by its enter taining performance. Our last football game of the season will be held here this Friday night with Woodruff. Mrs. Lou Ellen Hughes Sat- EDGEFIELD-MissNellieMae terfield, 68, of 104 N. Livings- Turner, 65, died Thursday, Nov. ton St., widow of C. T. Satter- 6. She was a sister of Miss Pet- field, died Sunday. tie Lou Turner of Clinton. She was a native and lifelong resident of Laurens County, daughter of the late Veal and Georgia Taylor Hughes. She was a retired cottage parent at Whit ten Village and member of Cal vary Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Fred L. Tumblin and Mrs. Gene Butler of Clinton; a grand daughter, Mrs. Mack Nelson, with whom she made her home, and a a grandson whom she reared, the Rev. A. L. “Bud" Tumb lin of Princeton; two brothers, James Hughes of Laurens and Luther Hughes of Clinton; three other grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Monday at 4 p.m. at Cal vary Baptist Church. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery. J. F. Nichols PROSPERITY - John Fred Ni chols, 51, of Route 1, Prosper ity, died Wednesday, Nov. 5. He was a brother of Cullen Lowman of J oanna. Other survivors include his wife, mother, a daughter, two other brothers, a sister and one grandchild. Mrs. Longshore NEWBERRY - Mrs. Vera Long Longshore, 54, died Wednesday, Nov. 5. She was a sister of Miss Katherline Long of Joanna. Other survivors include her husband, two sons, five brothers, four other sisters and six grand children. Funeral services were held Thursday at Whitaker Funeral Home with burial in Smyrna Presbyterian Church cemetery. Other survivors include four other sisters and a brother. Funeral services were con ducted Saturday at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home with burial in East View Cemetery.
