McNair saluted Vocational Guidance Week this week with the following proclamation: In response to a request from The SouthCarolina Personnel and Guidance Association I am pleased to call attention of the citizens of South Carolina to Vocational Guidance Week. Social, economic and technolo gical changes are altering the na ture and the kinds of jobs a- vailable in our economy. Soon workers will experience an aver age of three or four occupation- CLINTON PLAZA SHOPPING CENTER Highways 5G and 72 HARVEST al shifts in the courses of their normal working lives. The need for guidance is being identified increasingly among disadvant aged citizens, and among veter ans making the transition to civi lian life. Thus the process of vocational choice is becoming one of continual adaptation to chang ing conditions and changing vo cational situations. The purpose of National Vocational Guidance Week is to let more people know what vocational guidance is, how it helps youth as well as adults to make sound career choices, and where counseling and career guidance may be obtained. The week of Oct. 19-25, 1969 has been designated as NATIONAL VOCATIONAL GUID ANCE WEEK and I commend the observance as being a worth while endeavor. Methodist Meet The United Methodist Subdis trict meeting will be held Oct. 27 at Bailey Memorial United Methodist Church.
