Buddy Yar borough, pastor of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Asheville, N. C. The services will be held each evening starting at 7:30 p.m. J. E. Martin will lead the singing. Bellview is located on Route 1 in Laurens. * * * Graduate Aerospace Degree Offered A new Master of Science Degree Program in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with a Reliability Engineering option will be started in Sep tember at the University of Arizona, in Tucson. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Crapps are receiving congratulations on the adoption of a baby daughter, Kensla Joy, 2-1/2 months old. Mr. and Mrs. Crapps have one son, Philip, who will be in se cond grade at Joanna Element ary School. Mrs. Tullie Blackwell has been confined to her home doe to Ill ness. USC-Spartanburg Trains Nurses BY ERNIE SEGARS The problem of finding quali fied registered nurses is one that plagues hospital administrators around the country. The number of nurses available is not ade quate to fill the number of jobs that are available to them. In addition to hospital work, many nursing homes are in operation that need full-time nurses, and the armed services also need them to staff the large govern mental hospitals around the coun try. In order to combat this prob lem, the University of South Carolina branch in Spartanburg has instituted a nursing program that should help to alleviate this program. The Spartanburg branch of USC awards the Associate in Science degree in technical nursing. En trance requirements for this course are much the same as other universities and colleges. It is based primarily on College Board SAT scor«s and high school records. Interested students must have a high school diplo ma based on 16 high school cre dits, but there is no requirement for any specific sequence of these courses. Transfer students are admitted on their work in the college previously attended. In order to continue in the course, the student nurse must attain a cumulative letter grade of C in order to enroll for the second semester of the two se mester course. A grade point ratio of 2.0 is necessary for en rollment in the second year of the program. During the last semes ter of the nursing course, stu dents file an application to take the State Board Examination. When they successfully complete this examination, the students re ceive the registered nurse license. The cost of the program is not very high in relation to the spiral ing cost of education around the nation. For an entering freshman who is a native of South Carolina, the cost of the program will be approximately $610 a year. This includes $520 for tuition and fees and $90 for books and supplies. There are several scholarship and loan funds available to the nursing students. Additional information about this program may be obtained from the Spartanburg Regional Campus, University of South Carolina, Spartanburg, S. C., 29303. Friendship Church Revival Slated Rev, Joe Parsons of Anderson will begin revival services at Friendship Baptist ChurchSun- day, August 17. Services will l>e- gin each evening at 7:30 with morning services beginning Tuesday morning at 11 continuing throughout the week. Also a gos pel sing will be held on Satur day night, Aug. 16th featuring the John Griggs Trio from Char lotte, N.
