ROBERT ERWIN
Erwin To Speak
At Lions Club
Meeting Aug. 12
Robert Erwin, Jr. will be guest
speaker at the August 12 meet
ing of the Clinton Lions Club,
Erwin, a well-known Green
wood attorney, will speak on the
“Truth In Lending" bill which was
passed by Congress.
He received his BS degree in
Industrial Management from
Clem son in 1959. He later en
tered the University of SC Law
School where he received his law
degree in 1964.
Erwin is active in the First
Presbyterian Church, theYMCA,
and the Chamber of Commerce.
He is a member of the Green
wood Advisory Board of State
Bank and Trust Company, and is
president of the Greenwood C oun-
ty Chapter of the Clemson Uni
versity Alumni Association.
Erwin’s wife, the former Mar
tha Twitty, is a native ofMarion,
N.C. They have five children.

County Library
Receives $9,521

The Laurens County Library
has received a grant of $9,521.80
in State-aid from the South Caro
lina State Library Board to be
used for new books and profes
sional personnel during 1969-70,
according toMrs. Lillian B. Hart,
chairman of the Library’s Board
of Trustees.
Administered by the State Li
brary Board, the program of
State-aid for county and regional
libraries has been long estab
lished in South Carolina and has
resulted in the extension of pub
lic library service to all coun
ties of the State.
Recently, State-aid grants
were changed from a low fixed
amount to increased amounts
based on the number of residents
in each county. These larger
grants have enabled libraries to
increase book collections and to
employ more trained personneL
All of the State’s 46 counties
receive some form of State-aid
for public library development
and extension, but only those
public libraries which are legally
extablished and give county-wide
service through bookmobiles,
stations, and branches are eli
gible for the direct grant-in-aid,

Mrs. Long
Is Supervisor
Mrs. Jenelle K. Long, 128 Wells
St, has been named first shift
Supervisor of the Cloth Room for
Greenwood Plant No. 4 ofGreen-
wood Mills.
Mrs. Long joined Greenwood
Mills in 1949 as a weaver. She
had also been a weaving instruc
tor for the company’s Training
School and a finished good con
trol clerk in the offices.
A graduate of Clinton High
School, she is the mother of
two daughters, Mrs. Richard Teal
and Mrs. Sammy Coates. She at
tends Callie Self Memorial Bap
tist Church, and is a member of
the Order of Eastern Star. Her
hobbies include singing, knitting
and sewing. She is a member of
the Greenwood singing group,
“Two Dots and a Dash*.
