Mrs. Luther Culp of Atlanta, Ga., is visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Bryson. Mrs. Edwin Blake of Green wood accompanied her mother Mrs. Maude Bryson to Laurens Sunday afternoon to see Mrs. S. N. Crisp who is a patient at the Laurens Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Hassell Bryson, Jr. and two children visited Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bannister one day last week. Mr. H. W. Bryson has returned to the Bailey Memorial Hospital in Clinton after a brief stay at home. Mrs. Charlie Cleland has re turned home after an extended visit with her mother inSpartan- burg. Mr. and Mrs. Eulis Stewart were Sunday dinner guests of BY MRS. SARAH B. SEGARS Mr. and Mrs. Harold Frick, Mrs. Ray L. Shuhert and child ren Dianne and Jimmy left on July 23 to visit Ray Shuhert in Quonset Point, Rhode Is land. Mr. Shuhert has just re turned from Vietnam. When Mr. and Mrs. Frick return the Shu- herts will remain for a longer visit. Mrs. E. P. Boazman attended the funeral of Mrs. Guy McKit- trick at Siloam Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon. She also visit ed Mrs. Henry EUenberg near Ninety Six. Mr. William T. Boyce passed away at Bailey Memorial Hospi tal in Clinton on Sunday. Mr. Boyce was 87 and has been in failing health for sometime. Fun eral services were at Liberty Springs on Monday. Ernie Segars, joined by friends ••••••••••• Children's Library Is Open Five Days Each Week The Children’s Library in the Presbyterian College Clinton Li brary is open five days a week and features a story hour every Tuesday afternoon, according to Mrs. Georgia B. Young, child ren’s librarian. The Children’s Library hours are 2:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. Mon day, Tuesday, Thursday and Fri day. The Children’s Library is closed on Wednesdays. The li brary is open from 9 a.m. un til noon on Saturday. Every Tuesday, a “storyhour" is held from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. for children between four and eight years of age. These hours will be in effect until the end of summer, accord ing to Mrs. Young. The Children’s Library is operated as a branch of the Lau rens County Library at Presby terian College. ••••••••••• Safety Stickers To Be Placed On Left Side The South Carolina Highway Department has announced that from now on, inspection stations will place safety inspection stick ers on the lower left side of the windshield. From the beginning of the state’s motor vehicle inspection program in February 1968, the stickers have been affixed on the lower right side of the windshield. The decision to change the lo cation, as authorized by a recent legislative act, was based on the need for the stickers to be more visible from the opposing line of traffic, in order to carry out enforcement. Mr. andMrs.CarleyStreetmanin Greenwood. The Crisp reunion was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Adams and Miss Zelle Crisp. A bountiful table was placed in the huge Magnolia trees. Relatives from Brevard, Char lotte and Craven, N.C., Green ville, Clinton, Laurens, Elber- ton and Gainesville, Ga., were present. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rasor of Columbia visited Mr. and Mrs. Roy Adams and Miss Zelle Crisp Monday. Friends of Mrs. Roily Bannis ter are happy to know that she is at home again after an extend ed stay in the Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Fuller Motes and Tommie spent the weekend in Great Falls with Mr. and Mrs. Ed McMeekin. Mrs. Myrtle Williams of Dun can spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Burns. of Laurens, spent the past week end at Myrtle Beach. Miss Ruth Whiteford and Mrs. E. M. Davis have been recent patients in Bailey Memorial Hos pital. A number of Cross Hill resi dents visited some of the homes and gardens opened in connec tion with the Festival of Flow ers in Greenwood County over the past weekend. Mrs. B. F. Plyler has re turned to Monroe, N.C. after spending a week at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Segars and Lindy and Mrs. Hayne B. Workman Jr. were business visi tors in Atlanta over the week end. Joe L. Carter of Greenville was among those from out of town here for the funeral of W. T. Boyce. William MeCrary remains ill in Self Memorial Hospital. * * * Miss Turner On Clemson Staff Miss Melissa Turner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Turner has accepted a position on the staff of the Clemson University Department of Horticulture for the remainder of the summer. Miss Turner is working as a laboratory assistant and re search specilist under the direc tion of Dr. T. L. Senn, Head Dept, of Horticulture, and Wil liam B. Ballard, Graduate Re search and Teaching Assistant and a native of Clinton. Her work deals with a project on “Living Historical Horticultural Gardens for South Carolina”. She also is serving as a laboratory techni cian with a project supported by the Sea-borne Corporation--- dealing with the testing of the ef fects of a certain seaweed ex tract on the production size and quality of peaches. Miss Turner plans to return to Salem College in Winston- Salem, N. C. this Fall as a ris ing sophomore. BILL QUARLES Youth Revival At Hurricane Baptist Church A Youth Led Revival be gins August 3 at Hurricane Bap tist Church with the evening ser vices at 8 p.m. J. W. (Bill) Quarles of Clinton will bring the messages. Bill is a native of Clinton, a member of Davidson Street Baptist Church, and at tended Charleston Baptist Col lege. Woody Woods, from Green ville, a senior at Clemson, and a member of Daventon Baptist Church will lead the song service. On Thursday, a special music drama “Purpose” will be brought by the youth of his church. Services begin at 8 p.m. at Hurricane Baptist Church. + * * Visit Six Flags On July 23, about 23 Interme diates of Hurricane Baptist Church, under the leadership of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Scogin and Rev. J. C. Conoly, made a trip to Six Flags. PRAYER RETREAT The youth of Hurricane Com munity are invited to attend a prayer retreat to be followed with youth fellowship at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Neighbors on Saturday, August 2, at 7:30. This is in preparation for the youth led revival to begin August 3. + * * Doniluk Completes Radio Course At Elkins Institute John P. Daniluk, Jr., son of Lt. and Mrs. John P. Daniluk of Springdale Drive has returned to Clinton upon completion of a six-week course in Radio Opera tor Licensing at Elkins Institute in Atlanta. He attended Elkins Institute with a grant provided by C. W. Hogan of Clinton, manager of WLBG in Laurens. Prior to re turning to Clinton, John passed the Federal Communications Commission examination for the First Class Radiotelephone Op erator License. This is the high est class commercial license is sued by the Federal Communi cations Commission. John is a rising senior at Clin ton High School and has been a part time employee of WLBG for over a year.
