PURSUANT to a Resolution ofits
Board of Trustees, Laurens
County School District No. 56
(herein called “District No. 56")
will sell at public auction to the
highest bidder, either in or in
front of the old Providence School
building on the property herein
after described, on Monday, the
21st day of July, 1969, at 11:00
o’clock A.M., the following de
scribed property:
All that lot ofland, with the build
ing thereon, situate near and
southwest of the corporate limits
of the City of Clinton, in the
Village of Lydia, Hunter Town
ship, Laurens County, State of
South Carolina, containing sixty-
six one hundredths (.66) of an
acre, more or less, and being
bounded as follows: on the north
west by S. C. Highway No. S-
30-58, known as Poplar Street,
leading from the Village of Lydia
to the City of Clinton, one hun
dred sixty-nine (169) feet there
on; on the northeast by land known
as School Lot, formerly of Lydia
Cotton Mills, now of Clinton
Mills, Inc., one hundred sixty-
nine (169) feet thereon; on the
southeast by land known as School
Lot, formerly of Lydia Cotton
Mills, now of Clinton Mills, Inc.,
one hundred sixty-nine (169) feet
thereon; and on the southwest
by land known as School Lot,
formerly of Lydia Cotton Mills,
now of Clinton Mills, Inc., one
hundred sventy (170) feet thereon.
Said lot is more fully described
as to courses, distances, metes
and bounds according to a plat
of survey thereof, labelled “Pro
vidence School Plat, Lydia Cot
ton Mill, Clinton, S. C.”, sur
veyed January 15, 1927 by J. R.
Crawford, and recorded in the of
fice of the Clerk of Court for
Laurens County in Plat Book 2,
at page 161.
TERMS OF SALE: The success
ful bidder shall deposit with the
Superintendent of District No. 56,
or his representative, im
mediately upon the conclusion of
the bidding ten per centum (10%)
of the amount of the bid in cash
or by check acceptable to the Su
perintendent, or his representa
tive, as a guarantee of his good
faith in the bidding; the same to
be applied to the purchase price
upon his comjjlying with the terms
of sale, otherwise to be for
feited to District No. 56; the
balance of the purchase price to
be paid in cash or by check ac
ceptable to the Superintendent,
or his representative, within ten
(10) days after the sale; and if
the successful bidder fails so
to pay the balance of the pur
chase price or otherwise fails to
comply with the terms of sale,
the property may be re-sold at
the risk of the defaulting pur
chaser; said sale to be made sub
ject to the requirement that the
purchaser at purchaser’s ex
pense promptly and within a rea
sonable time, not more than sixty
(60) days after the sale, and as a
condition precedent to obtaining
delivery of the deed, shall re
move all of the projecting por
tions of said building from the
land of Clinton Mills, Inc.; pro
vided that District No. 56 re
serves the right during a period
of seven (7) days after the sale
to reject any and all bids; pro
vided, further, that the sale is
subject to, and shall be carried
out only by and with, the consent
of the Laurens County Board of
Education; District No. 56 to pay
for deed and documentary
stamps.

sell at public sale to the highest
bidder for cash at the Laurens
County Courthouse, Laurens,
South Carolina, on August 4,1969
at 11:00 A.M., the following:
“All that piece, parcel or tract
of land, together with any
improvements thereon, situate,
lying and being at the Southeas
tern corner of the intersection of
Pine and Cedar Streets in the
City of Clinton, County of Lau
rens, State ofSouthCarolina, said
tract being more particularly
shown and delineated on a plat
prepared for King Apartments,
Inc. by B. R. T. Todd, Engineer,
on January 10, 1950, said tract
having the following courses and
distances to wit: BEGINNING at
an iron at the Southeastern cor
ner of the intersection of said
Pine and Cedar Streets and thence
running South 6 degrees 15 min
utes East for a distance of 450 feet
along the Eastern side of Cedar
Street to an iron; thence turning
and running North 83 degrees
45 minutes East for a distance
of 225 feet to an iron, thence
turning and running North 6 de
grees 15 minutes West for a
distance of 225 feet to an iron
on the Southern side of Pine
Street to the point of BE
GINNING.”
The successful bidder is to be
required to deposit immediately
as evidence of good faith cash
or certified check in the amount
of five (5) percent of said bid.
If the plaintiff be the successful
bidder at said sale, the amount
of its indebtedness may be used
as the equivalent of cash; that the
bidding shall not be closed upon
the date of sale, but shall re
main open until the thirtieth(30th)
day after such sale, exclusive of
the day of sale, and within such
thirty day peri<xl any person other
than the highest bidder at the
sale may enter a higher bid upon
complying with the terms of sale
by making the aforementioned de
posit as a guaranty of his good
faith, and thereafter within such
period, any person other than
such highest bidder at the sale
may in like manner raise the
last highest bid, and the suc
cessful purchaser shall be deem
ed the person who submitted the
last highest bid within such period
and made the necessary deposit.
Should the successful bidder fail
to comply with the said bid with
in thirty (30) days from the date
of sale, the deposit of five (5)
percent hereinabove referred to
shall be forfeited, and immed
iately and without further order
the United States Marshal shall
readvertise and resell the mort
gaged premises at the earliest
possible sales day thereafter on
the same terms and conditions,
and at the risk of the defaulting
bidder. The plaintiff may become
the purchaser at the said sale,
or any resale.

PURSUANT to a Decree of the
Court in the above stated case,
I will sell at public outcry to the
highest bidder, either in or in
front of the Court House, at
Laurens C. H., S. C., on Sales-
day in August next, being Monday,
the 4th day of the month, during
the legal hours for such sales, the
following described property,
to wit:
All that piece, parcel of lot of
land, with the dwelling house
thereon, situate, lying and being
on the east side of North Holland
Street and on the north side of
East Carolina Avenue, in the City
of Clinton, Laurens County, State
of South Carolina, said lot being
made up and composed of lots
shown, designated and delineated
as Lots Nos. 201, 202, 203, 204,
and 205 on plat of survey and sub
division made by B. R. Todd, Sur
veyor, dated April, 1913, and
recorded in Plat Book 1, at Page
8 and 9, in the Office of the Clerk
of Court for Laurens County.
Said lot as so composed is
bounded as follows: on the north
by Lot No. 206 as shown on said
plat, one hundred eighty (180)
feet thereon; on the east by Lots
Nos. 230, 231, 232, 233, 234,
and 235 as shown on said plat,
one hundred forty-two (142) feet
thereon; on the south by East
Carolina Avenue, one hundred
eighty (180) feet thereon; on the
west by North Holland Street, one
hundred twenty-seven (127) feet
thereon.
TERMS OF SALE: Cash. The
successful bidder, other than the
Plaintiff herein, immediately
upon the conclusion of the bidding,
shall deposit with the Clerk of
Court the sum of five per centum
(5%) of the amount of the bid as a
guarantee of his good faith in the
bidding. The same to be applied
to the purchase price upon his
complying with the terms of sale,
otherwise to be paid Plaintiff
for credit on the indebtedness. In
the event the successful bidder
should fail to make such deposit,
or should fail to comply with the
terms of sale, the said limds shall
be re-sold on the same or some
subsequent Salesday on the same
terms, at risk of the defaulting
purchaser.
The purchaser to pay for
papers, stamps and recording.
No personal or deficiency
judgement is demanded and the
bidding will not remain open after
the sale but compliance with the
bid may be made immediately.

1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water

margarine (optional)

Combine celery and bouil
lon in 2-quart saucepan
Cover and simmer about
15 minutes, or until celery
is just tender Mix corn
starch and cold water to
gether thoroughly; stir into
celery. Cook over low
medium heat, stirring con
stantly, until mixture thick
ens (about 2 minutes). Stir
in butter or margarine

Or the time?
Maybe the fault is ours.
Maybe we weren’t very accurate
when we called it “Information’.’
That’s why...

“Trade what y<m have and don't
need for what you need and don't
have." A friend told me that he
saw this advertising slogan in an
antique slure. Beinga good sales
man, he thought it excellent ad
vertising, which it is.
It is also good philosophy of
life. Many of us have a multi
tude of things which we don’t
really need, while that which we
need most of all we don't have -
ttie peace of God in our hearts.
The prophet Isaiah was also a
good advertising man. He said,
“Ho, every one that thirsteth,
come ye to the waters, and he
that hath no money; come ye,
buy, and eat. . .without money
and without price. Wherefore do
ye spend money for that which is
not bread? and your labour for
that which satisfiethnot 0 hearken
diligently unto me, and eat ye
that which is good and let your
soul delight itself in fatness. . .
Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his
thoughts; and let him return unto
the Lord, and he will have mercy
upon him; and to our God, for tie
will abundantly pardon. ” This ad
vertisement tells us how to get
the peace of God, and without
money.
Someone has said that the cur
rent exchange in Heaven will tie
souls, not dollars. We dare not
wait until the hereafter to secure
that heavenly treasure. We are
to acquire that here. Jesus said,
“Lay not up for yourselves trea
sures upon earth where moth and
rust doth corrupt and where
thieves break through and steal;
but lay up for yourselves trea
sures in heaven, where neither
moth nor rust doth corrupt, and
where thieves do not break
through nor steal.” He then told
us how to acquire that heavenly
treasure: “But seek ye first the
kingdom >f God, and his right
eousness, and all these(material)
things shall be added unto you.”
T "j many <if us go at lite back
ward. We devote our timeandef-
forts to acquiring material things
which we can't take with us into
the tieyond. Instead, we should tie
interested in the currency of
Heaven - souls.
The first soul each of us should
lie concerned about is our own.
It is that Divine spark lighted
in us when we were born, which
struggles within us to again es
tablish contact with its Creator.
It occurs when we yield our lives
fully to God as >ur Fater, Christ
as nr Saviour, and the Holy
Spirit as our Guide and Coun
selor. When we do that, place
God first in air lives, He will
provide for all of our needs. St.
Paul confirmed that when he
wrote, “My God shall supply all
your need according to his riches
in glory by Christ Jesus."
Each one of us should squarely
face the issue and exchange what
we have but don’t really need,
for what we need most of all and
don’t have - Jesus Christ as our

it's good currency here as well
as hereafter.
