reembroidered Calais lace with
portrait neckline, organza
sleeves cuffed in lace and an
organza skirt which formed a
cathedral train. A full length
veil of French illusion fell from
a lace hat with fabric flowers at
the crown. She carried a cas
cade of caladium leaves and white
glamellias.
Bridal attendants wore full-
'length blue voile gowns with jewel
necklines and chapel trains.
White lace and blue chiffon in
serts trimmed the high waists.

The bride is the daughter of

graduate of Clinton High School,
she is employed by the Tresslars
Stores in Edwardsport.
She was given in marriage by
a close friend, Mr. Dennis Knox
of Edwardsport. Her maid of
honor was Miss JillStandish also
of Edwardsport.
The groom, who is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Koenig of
Bicknell, Ind., chose his brother,
Jim Koenig as his best man.
The groom is a graduate of Bick
nell High School and is connect

Following the ceremony a re
ception was held at the home of
the groom’s parents.
The couple are living in the
Westside Apartments in Bicknell.
Lakeside Supper
The members of the Sarah
Glenn Circle of Broad Street
United Methodist Church were in
vited to the Lakeside cottage of
Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Chapman
Monday evening for dinner.
Arrangements of roses from
the gardens of Dr. and Mrs.
George R. Blalock were placed
at vantage points in the living
dining room. The tables were
centered with arrangements of
gardenias. On the porch a huge
arrangement of multi-colored
summer flowers added a note of
gaiety.
Dinner was served buffet style
from the long bar.
Following dinner, Mrs. Joe
Bonds, circle chairman led a
short devotional program, and
business session.
Assisting Mrs. Chapman were
Mrs. Carl Chaney and Mrs. Ray
Boozer.
Iris Garden Club
The Iris Garden Club held
their regular meeting on May 28
at the home of Mrs. Lewis Simp
son. Live arrangements were
made by the members which
brought thought and interest to
all.
During the social hour the hos
tess and the cohostess, Mrs. I.
A. Ray served Hawaiian pie, nuts,
and punch. The trees shaded the
table in the flower garden, and
the members were impressed
with the beauty of the scene.

Church, Knightsville.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Derrick

Summerville. She is a graduate of
Summerville High and attended
Rice Business College. The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
I. McDonald Adair of Clinton. He
is a recent graduate of the Cita
del.

of Knightsville. A sister of the

Columbia attended the bride as
matron of honor. Bridesmaid
were Miss Lucille McSween of
Clinton, and nieces of the bride,

Miss Derrick Knight, recent
bride of Jim Adair was enter
tained with a luncheon at the
Wilson Home on June 3. Honor
ing her were Mrs. D.M. Adair
and Mrs. Taylor Martin.
The guests were seated at four
tables each centered with a nose
gay of roses. Arrangements of
blue and pink hydrangeas and
roses were used in decoration.
The bride was given a gift of a
salad fork in her chosen silver
pattern by the hostesses.

the Moose held its election for
new officers for the year 1969-
70. The new officers are: Senior

Beal; Treasurer -, Louise Smith.
They will take office the first
meeting in July.
Miss Ellen Dianne King became
the birde of James Augustus
Hornsby in 2 p.m. services Sun
day conducted by the Rev. J. W.
Spillers at Calvary Baptist
Church. The reception was given
in the church social hall by Mr.
and Mrs. David Kirksey Snel-
grove, grandparents of the bride.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Carlton Edward King, has
lived with her grandparents, re
sidents of Musgrove St., since
childhood. Mr. Hornsby chose
Mr. David Kirksey Snelgrove to
be best man. Carlton King gave
his daughter in marriage.
Miss Judy Rogers and Mrs.
Wayne Hornsby were maid and
matron of honor. Bridesmaids
were Miss Belinda Buchanan of
Joanna, Miss Patsy Calvert of
Laurens, Miss Sheila Campbell
and Miss Kathy Foster. The flow
ers and rings were carried
by Miss Sherry Crumpton and the
bride’s brother, Richard King.

Joanna, William Alexander Jones
Jr., and two brothers of the
groom, Wayne and Leo Hornsby.
Mrs. Frank Lee, organist and
Robert Vincent, soloist, provided

Mr. Hornsby, who is employed
by Greenwood Mills in Joanna,
plans to attend Greenville TEC
in the fall. He is the son of Mrs.
Leo Hornsby of 205 Shands St.
and the late Mr. Hornsby. The
bride’s parents live on Davidson
Street.
The bride wore a satin sheath
gown fashioned with an alencon
lace yoke and bell sleeves. The
lace brain was pleated at the back
yoke. Empire gowns of sateen in
yellow and green, designed with
puff sleeves and Empire waist
lines, were worn by the bridal
attendants. She carried a white
bride’s Bible topped with one
dozen white rosebuds.
Mr. and Mrs. Hornsby will live
at 105 Florence St after a wed-
ding trip to Myrtle Beach.

surgery on Tuesday.

brunch for Beth and Miss Julia
Taylor on April 12. Guests were

thers-in-law, and close friends.

A cookout for the couple on
April 19 was given by Mr. and
Mrs. A. J. Davis and daughter

vid is completing a clinical year
as ministerial assistant to youth.

home of Mr. and Mrs. B. G.
Stearnes on April 26.

David’s parents gave the re
hearsal dinner at the Colonial
Court Motel in Greenville on
May 30.
On the wedding day Mrs. Paul
F. Barnette, Beth’s aunt, and
Mrs. Everette S. Mauney had
the bridesmaids’ luncheon.
On June 7 after returning from
their wedding trip to Florida,
Beth and David were entertained
by Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hill at a
steak supper. About 20 relatives
enjoyed the party.

member of the Clinton Mill Com
munity, has recently retired
from her post there as Com
munity Activities Director.

to a party and surprise lingerie
shower on May 24. Hostesses for
the occasion were Mrs. B. F. Har
vey, Mrs. Guy Tumblin, and Mrs.
J. J. West.
The refreshment table was
covered with a green cloth over
laid with white. The striking cen
terpiece included yellow snap
dragons and white glads in a
silver bowl flanked by silver
candlelabra holding white
candles.

UDC Enjoys
Rose Hill Visit
The Stephen D. Lee Chapter of
the United Daughters of the Con
federacy met at Rose Hill, his
torical home of the secession
governor, William H. Gist. A tour
of the grounds and mansion was
enjoyed.
A short business meeting was
conducted in the old kitchen of
the mansion behind the main-
house. After the ritual and pray
er, Miss Louise Kern, president
conducted the business meeting
during which it was voted to con
tribute $100 on the principal of
the UDC Scholarship at Presby
terian College.
A very interesting paper was
given on the visit to Union Coun
ty by Jefferson Davis. The paper
was written by Mrs. J. Frost
Walker, Sr. of Union.
A bountiful picnic was enjoyed
under the stately age old oak
trees.

Samuel Templeton Jr. of Clin
ton Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at the
First Presbyterian Church.

Church in Charlotte. The bride
groom, son of Mr. andMrs. Tem

ant, working with youth, at the
Charlotte church.

Mr. and Mrs. George Denton

as her maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Miss Joyce
Leigh Davis of Charlotte, Miss

ricia Ruff. Serving as junior
bridesmaid was Miss Barbara
Stearnes.
Each attendant sewed her dress
of pale pink dotted swiss,
styled . jyith Empire waist and
puff sleeves. .The dresses were
trimnMt with vent* ribbon in a
deeper shade. The maid of honor
wore a similarly styled dress of
mint green dotted swiss.
The bridegroom’s father was
best man. Ushers included the

son City, Tenn., Willis Gaines of

Charles Newman Lindsay, also
the bride’s brother, was junior

Music was presented by Edwin
D. Clark at the organ and Miss
Myra Cordell, who sang.
Mrs. Lindsay had made her
daughter’s dress of organza over
delustered satin. Alencon lace,
embroidered with seed pearls,
covered the Empire bodice. Or
ganza sleeves were edged at the
wrists with scalloped lace and
pearls. Mrs. Lindsay had also
made the mantilla and train,
which along with the dress were
designed by the bride.
A church reception followed the
wedding. After a Florida trip the
newlyweds will live in the Addi
son Apartments in Charlotte.
In the fall Mr. Templeton will
resume study at Columbia Theo
logical Seminary in Decatur, Ga.,
for two years; the bride will
teach mathematics in the DeKalb
County Sftcaadkry^chool System
io Decatur. ^
The bridegroom was graduated
from Presbyterian College in
1967. He was in Pi Kappa Phi
fraternity. The bride was grad
uated summa cum laude from
P.C. this spring, serving in Alpha
Psi Omega, Sigma Kappa Alpha
and the P.C. Players. She is list
ed in the collegiate Who’s Who.
Thackston-Lambright Rites In Chapel
Miss Dorothy Lillian Thack-
ston became the bride of Mr.
Edwin Gibbs Lambright, Jr. on
Saturday, June 7 at 5:30 o’clock
in Wyatt Chapel, Presbyterian
College, Clinton. The bride is
the daughter of Col. and Mrs. A.
J. Thackston, Jr. The groom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
G. Lambright of Brunswick, Ga.

mony. The traditional wedding
music was furnished by Mrs.
Heath Copeland of Clinton at the
piano and Miss Jacqueline Daly
of Northport, N.Y., the bride’s
roommate at Brenau, who sang
the Lord’s Prayer.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a silk em
pire-styled gown with a finger
tip mantilla. Her bouquet was of
white roses and ivy.

sisted the bride as maid of honor
and bridesmaid. Mr. John Russell
Lambright of Brunswick was his
brother’s best man. Ushers were

The bride’s mother wore
a flowered silk dress. The mother
of the groom was dressed in a
silk print of blue, yellow and
green. The grandmother of the
groom, Mrs. Millicent Wright,
wore a blue linen dress appli-
qued with white flowers.
The bride graduated on June
1 from Brenau College, Gaines
ville, Ga. The groom is a senior
at the University of Georgia in
Athens.
For travelling the bride wore
a shawl-collared beige and blue
linen dress with beige acces
sories. After the wedding trip to
Charleston, they will live in
Athens where Mr. Lambright will
continue his studies.

ROTC CRUISE
Larry Reddeck, student at the
University of South Carolina, left
last week with other members of
the Naval ROTC for Frankfurt,
Germany, and from there to the
North Sea where they joined the
crew of the USS Wasp for a six
weeks cruise.
