Sidney Whitlock
Sidney Whitlock, 58, of 501
Shands St, died early Sunday
morning in a Charleston hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of
Laurens County, son of the late
John Sidney and Marie Hughes
Whitlock, and was a painter and a
veteran of World War II. He at
tended Davidson Street Baptist
Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Mattie Summers Whitlock; a
daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Midgie)
Ballew of Charleston; two sons,
Bobby Whitlock of the Navy at
Long Beach, Calif., and Wayne
Whitlock of Clinton; two sis
ters, Mrs. Louise Malpass of
Clinton and Mrs. Macy Johnson of
Joanna; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were con
ducted Wednesday at Davidson
Street Baptist Church. Burial was
in Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Me Watters
Funeral services were held
Saturday for Mrs. Mary Wilson
McWatters, 79, of 1108 Elizabeth
Street. Mrs. McWatters died
Thursday, May 22, in a local
hospital.
Services were conducted at the
First Baptist Church Great Falls
with burial in Elmwood Cemetery
in Fort Lawn.
She spent most of her life in
Chester County, before moving
to Clinton four years ago. She
was a daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. David Y. Wilson and was
a retired employe of the J. P.
Stevens Plant in Great Falls.
She was a member of Great
Falls First Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, W.
D. McWatters of Clinton, R. T.
McWatters of Atlanta, Ga., and
S. L. McWatters of Baltimore,
Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Gre
gory of Columbia and Mrs. Annie
Lou Sims of Stanley, N.C.; 12
grandchildren; and 11 great
grandchildren.

L. A. Boyette
Luther A. Boyette, 65, of Lake-
wood Drive, died Friday night in a
local hospital.
He was a native of Moore
County, N.C., but lived in Clin
ton since 1941. He was a son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. John A.
Boyette and was retired super
visor of the card room of Clin
ton Mills. He was a member of
the Old Timers Club and was a
Baptist.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Ruth P. Boyette; three daugh
ters, Mrs. Frank (Margaret)
Ross of Phoenix City, Ala., and
Mrs. Samuel (Pauline Smith of
Eden, N.C., and Mrs. A. E. (Wil
ma) Patridge of Meridian,
Miss.; three sons, L. E. Boyette
of Tel City, Indiana, R. E. Boy
ette of Charleston andWilliamE.
Boyette, U. S. Army, Vietnam;
a stepson, James B. CathcartJr.
of Clinton; six sisters, Mrs. Al
len Phillips, Mrs. Dewey Mat
thews, Mrs. James Campbell,
Mrs. Pete Oldham, Mrs. Oscar
Sewell and Mrs. Jessie Moore
of Goldston, N.C.; three brothers,
Gilbert and Joe Boyette of Car
thage, N.C., and Frank Boyette
of Aberdeen, N.C.; 17 grandchild
ren; and three greatgrand
children.
Funeral services were con
ducted Sunday at Calvary Baptist
Church with burial in Rosemont
Cemetery.

Mrs. Reeder
LAURENS - Mrs. Bell Work
man Reeder, 71, of 128 Wash
ington St., died Tuesday, May 20,
in a Laurens hospital.
She was a sister of Mrs. Lu
cille Copeland of Clinton. Other
survivors include four daughters,
a son, two brothers, 12 grand
children and 25 great-grand
children.
Funeral services were con
ducted Sunday at New Grove Bap
tist Church with burial in the
church cemetery.

Funeral services for George
Randolph, 76, of 324 Airport
Road, who died Sunday at a local
hospital, will be conducted
Thursday at 4 p.m. at
Wateree Baptist Church by the
Rev. T. Y. Clardy. Burial will
be in the church cemetery.

Philip Crapp will celebrate his
seventh birthday on Thursday,
May 29.
Rev. and Mrs. Charles Atkin
son were dinner guest of Mr.
and Mrs. Lowel Henderson on
Sunday.
He was a native of Laurens
County, and was a member and
the oldest deacon of Wateree
Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs.
Mary Thompson of Baltimore,
Md.; two grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
