Greenwood. This week of camp is

Outreach Program. Reverend

Veazey Concert Set

Randall Veazey will appear in
sacred concert Wednesday even
ing, June 4, at the First Baptist
Church of Joanna. The concert
will be held at the Joanna Club
house.
Mr. Veazey is an instructor of
voice and the singing representa
tive for the School of Church Mu
sic at the New Orleans Baptist
Theological Seminary. Prior to
assuming this position he served
the First Baptist Church, Gulf
port, Mississippi, as Minister of
Music. In the role of church musi
cian Mr. Veazey has sung in sa

Motes Receives
Hart Award At
Baptist College
Phil Motes of Mountville re
ceived the Oliver Hart Christian
Leadership Award recently at
Baptist College at Charleston.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Ful
ler Motes, he is a rising senior,
majoring in history with a minor
in Physical Education.
The award is presented to
the student voted most out
standing in Christian leadership
and influence. The committee
making this award is composed
of representatives of the school
administration, faculty and the
student council. The recipient re
ceives free tuition for the follow
ing semester.

he has held leading roles with
the Birmingham Civic Opera, the
New Orleans Recreation Depart
ment Opera, the Gulf Coast Opera
Association, the New York City
Opera Company, and others. He
has also appeared with the New
Orleans Pop Orchestra and the
Shreveport Symphony Orchestra.
He successfully auditioned for a
contract with the New York City
Opera Company but turned down
this opportunity feeling that God
had cabed him to be a church
musician.
The public is invited to hear
this talented and consecrated
dramatic tenor in concert. His
“Sermon in Song* will feature
many favorite hymns, gospel
songs and spirituals. Those who
heard him last year will never
forget his tremendous presenta
tion. The time ofthe program will
be 8:30 p.m. The Reverend L.
Byron Harbin is pastor of the
church and Mr. Harry Bouknight
is Minister of Music.
