The kindergarten group re cently visited the first grades of the Mercer Silas Bailey School and the Clinton Elementary School. Each member of the class will attend first grade next year. On the morning of May 13, the children enjoyed their visit and annual picnic at the home of their teacher, Mrs. Vernon Trammell on the Laurens Highway. Parents of five-year-olds who are interested in attending the 1969-70 kindergarten session may contact Mrs. Trammell at 833-1273. THE CHRONICLE, Clinton, S. C., May 22, 1969—1-C County Legislators Have Had Busy Year Columbia - The Laurens County delegation to the House of Representatives has been active in local and state-wide matters so far in the current legislative session. The delegation was successful in getting a bill creating a plan ning commission for Clinton through the House and into the Senate. A water line bill was passed by the General Assembly after being introduced in the House by the Laurens delegation. The delegation has been making plans for the introduction of a County Council bill for Laurens County. According to Rep. David S. Taylor the bill will be intro duced in the House in the very near future. The Laurens County supply bill is also near ready for introduc tion in the House. This import ant legislation should be complet ed for introduction next week, Rep. Taylor has said. In state-wide matters the dele gation voted for the implied con sent bill which would require a driver suspected of drunkenness to submit to a breath test. The delegation voted in favor of a bill to provide for the de fense of indigents charged with a crime. During debate on the state ap propriations bill, the Laurens County delegation voted against a sales tax increase. They voted in favor of increasing the cigarette tax, a liquor tax increase, and an increase in the corporate in come tax. A. Darr, Presi dent of the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank of Columbia. Dick Suggs, general manager of the local Palmetto Production Credit Association, said the Credit Bank provides leadership, supervision and agricultural loan hinds for 62 PCAs in the four- state area. Palmetto PCA is a farmer- owned and operated credit or ganization serving Greenwood, Abbeville, McCormick, Saluda, Edgefield, Aiken, Laurens and Newberry counties. The Associa tion is extending $5.8 million to 100 farmer-members in these counties for their needs for operating and capital investment credit on an intermediate-term oasis. Courses will be opened at two other state parks later this summer. Courses now are open at Ses- quicentennial and Greenwood parks and one at Santee is scheduled for completion in mid May. Two others will be ready later in the year at Table Rock and Oconee State Parks. Popular miniature golf courses will have 18 holes with attrac tions like a loop hole, bullseye, covered wagon, lighthouse and basketball hoop. One of the holes is banked in the manner of the Darlington Speedway. Admission to the course is 35 cents.
