South Carolina taxpayers will
begin receiving their state tax
return forms shortly after the
New Year, and for most of them
it means there is good news a-
head.
The South Carolina Tax Com
mission estimates that three out
of every four taxpayers in the
state this year will receive re
funds, with the total amount
reaching approximately $20 mil
lion.
The Tax Commission warns,
however, that the refunds maybe
delayed by as much as a month
to six weeks if there is a last-
minute deluge just prior to the
April 15 tax return deadline.
To avoid delay in receiving
refunds, the Tax Commission
urges:
1 That taxpayers mail in their
state returns by April 1, and
2. That even if the Tax Com
mission's form is not used in
making the return, the special
pre-addressed label should be
attached to the form which is
used.
The pre-addressed label is
particularly important to Tax
Commission officials inprocess-
mg the returns, according to Tax
Commission Chairman Robert C.
Wasson.
