Hose Close Pre-Holiday
Slate With Pfeiffer Here
"It was certainly a tough week.
We were happy to get one win
out of the three games," said
Presbyterian College basketball
coach Herb Robinson.
The Blue Hose defeated West
ern Carolina before losing to Ca
tawba, 77-56, and Lenoir Rhyne,
62-51, last week.
"Western Carolina has a good
team and we were delighted to win
that game. Catavba la probably
“We played poorly, very
poorly," Clinton High Basketball
Coach Tommy Sublet! comment
ed Friday after his varsity loss
to Belton-Honea Path 46-38 in
the CHS gymnasium.
“That’s about as poor a per
formance as I’ve seen in six
years of coaching. We complete
ly abandoned a disciplined style
of play. We had 17 turnovers
and poor shooting.
“In our first game against Lau
rens, I thought we did pretty
well but we certainly had a lapse
against Belton-Honea Path."
Clinton led 10-3 after the first
quarter but by halftime Belton-
Honea Path was ahead 18-16.
Three Clinton starters fouled
out.
Sublett said, “It was Belton-
Honea Path’s first game. If it
hadn’t been their first, they would
havd blown us off the court
They made only 12 our of 32
free throws so you can see they
weren’t very shairp."
Buzzy tedards led Clinton’s
scorers with 18 points and Chris
Adair had 11.
The Red Devils play at Bel
ton-Honea Path Friday night and
go to Newberry Tuesday to open
the Eastern Conference schedule.
Belton-Honea Path also won the
Junior varsity game last Friday,
50-27.
Chip Howe was Clinton’s lead
ing scorer with eight points.
one of the most powerful teams
in the conference. Lenoir Rhyne
also has a good team and we
played fairly well up there,"
said Robinson who is in his first
season as PC’s cage coach.
At halftime, Belton-Honea Path
led 18-14 but began pulling away
around the middle of the third
quarter when their superior

mont Abbey Tuesday and will play
host to Pfeiffer tonight in the PC
gym. Game time tonight is 7:30
p.m.
“Pfeiffer has a lot of good
shooters,” Robinson said, “They
have a good many boys back from
last year so they should have
good experience."
“We’re playing a disciplined
type of game and the boys are
trying," Robinson said, “I think
we’ve played some pretty good
defense. We’ve been mixing our
defenses up a lot in an effort
to keep the opponents off-balance.
We kept Lenoir Rhyne off-balance
until midway through the second
half and then they pulled away.
We’ve been lacking in offensive
punch but I believe when we get
Dave Kerschner back, we’ll have
more depth and more scoring
punch which we need.
After tonight’s game with
Pfeiffer, the Blue Hose will be off
for the Christmas holidays. Their
next outing will be Jan. 11 at Er-
skine.
