Miss Smith Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 26, for Miss Lelia Smith, 71 of Broad St. Ext. Miss Smith, the last surviving member of her family, died Wed nesday in a local hospital. A native of Union County, she lived in Clinton for 15 years. She was a daughter of the late Giles and Cornelia Smith and was a mem ber of Putnam Baptist Church. Services were conducted at Gray Funeral Home with burial in Rosemont Cemetery. Lisa Ferguson Lisa Ferguson, three-week- old daughter ofGeorgia Mae Fer guson, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, in a Greenville hospital. Other survivors include her grandmother, Mrs. Sara Fergu son; three brothers and a sis ter. Funeral services were con ducted Thursday morning, Sept. 26, at Thompson’s Mortuary with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Mrs. Hill Funeral services were held Friday at New Bethel AME Church for Mrs. Bessie H. Hill, 82, who died Sunday, Sept. 22, in a local hospital. Burial was in the church ceme tery. She was the widow of Fred Hill. Survivors include three sons, Douglas Hill of Clinton and Wil liam and George Hill of Cleve land, Ohio; two brothers, Jimmy L. and Wilkes Humphrey of Phila-t delphia, Pa; and two grandchild ren. L. W. Butler L. W. Butler Sr., 66, died early Monday at his home. He was a native of Eutaw- ville and lived in Clinton for 26 years. He was a son of the late Adger and Edna Martin But ler, and was a retired employe of Clinton Mills. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Katie Lawton Barnes Butler; three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Heaton and Mrs. Howie (Mary Ann) Dawkins of Clinton and Mrs. Bruce (Ruth) Hughes of Laurens; four sons, Lewis Butler Jr., John E. and Robert A. Butler of Clinton and Tommy E. Butler of Laurens; three sisters, Mrs. Ellou Bull ofCharlestonandMrs. Lorie Godfrey and Mrs. Marie Little of Great Falls; four bro thers, Elbert Butler of Great Falls, Rubin Butler of Chester, Melvin Butler of Virginia and Connie Butler of Charleston; 15 grandchildren and a great-grand child. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery. Mrs. Copeland Mrs. Josie Martin Copeland, 81, of 204 Enterprise St, widow of Robert James Copelaiid Sr., died early Sunday in a Laurens nursing home. She was a lifelong resident of Laurens County, daughter of the late Perry Coleman and Allie Allison Martin, and was a mem ber of Broad Street Methodist Church, the WSCS andtheWCTU. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Josephine Copeland of Clinton; two sons, Robert J. Copeland Jr. of Clinton and J. Brooks Cope land of Statesville, N.C.; a bro ther, R. Walker Martin of Raleigh, N.C.; and three grand children. Funeral services conducted Monday at Gray Funeral Home with burial in the Presbyterian Church cemetery. Mrs. Wood CAMDEN - Funeral services were conducted Friday for Mrs. Bessie Reasonover Wood, 80, formerly of Clinton, who died Thursday, Sept. 26, in a local hospital. She was the widow of the Rev. Paul T. Wood, a retired minis ter of the S.C. Methodist Con ference. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lewis Pitts of Bethune and formerly of Clinton; with whom she made her home; a son, Dr. Paul A. Wood of Camden; and a sister, Mrs. Preston B. Ackerman of Cottageville. Funeral services were con ducted at Bethel Methodist Church with burial in Rosemont Cemetery in Clinton. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Wood Mortuary in Greer with burial in Smyrna Cemetery, Lowndesville. Other survivors Include her husband, a daughter, four bro thers, two other sisters and a grandchild. Clarence Lawson Funeral services were held Saturday for Clarence Lawson, 73, who died Thursday in a Lex ington nursing home. Services were conducted at Gray Funeral Home with burial in the Putmans Baptist Church cemetery near Union. A native of Union County, he lived In Laurens County for 20 years before moving to Lex ington. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Putmans Baptist Church. Survivors Include a sister, Mrs. Alice Brown of Union. W. F. Rackley SENECA - William Frone Rackley, 82, father of Mrs. Ferris (Pauline) Four of Clinton, died Monday at a Seneca hospi tal. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Brown’s Funeral Home with burial in Rocky Knoll Baptist Church cemetery inWal- halla. Other survivors include his wile, three sons, another daugh ter, two brothers, 10 grandchild ren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
