British Service Industry
British garages are modernizing to keep pace with heavy
workloads arising from compulsory safety testing of vehicles,
creating a major market for automotive diagnostic and serv
ice equipment.
The mandatory annual inspection of all vehicles more than
three years old has sparked a demand for modern automotive
senicing equipment. With motor vehicle registrations now
exceeding 14 million and exacted to rise to 18 million by 1970,
speedier repairs will be demanded.
To help American firms take advantage of this opportunity,
the U.S. Department of Commerce is sponsoring a special show
Oct. 16-24 at the U.S. Trade Center in London. The market for
this equipment is in excess of .?28 million annually, and is
showing a growth rate of 12 per cent a year.
