Copeland is a General Business major at G. S. C. W ASHING I ON — I he Post Office Department operates a tleet of trucks in addition to main other types of vehicles. British Service Industry British garages are modernizing to keep pace with heavy workloads arising from compulsory safety testing of vehicles, creating a major market for automotive diagnostic and serv ice equipment. The mandatory annual inspection of all vehicles more than three years old has sparked a demand for modern automotive senicing equipment. With motor vehicle registrations now exceeding 14 million and exacted to rise to 18 million by 1970, speedier repairs will be demanded. To help American firms take advantage of this opportunity, the U.S. Department of Commerce is sponsoring a special show Oct. 16-24 at the U.S. Trade Center in London. The market for this equipment is in excess of .?28 million annually, and is showing a growth rate of 12 per cent a year. Miss Sue Word spent the week end in Columbia with Miss Carol Hinnant, going for the pre-wed- dlng events and the wedding of Miss Hinnant to Mr. Walter Gun ter. Mr. and Mrs. David Word joined Miss Word for the wed ding onSunday at the College Park Methodist Church and the recep tion following in the Columbia College Student Center. Miss Word presided at the bride’s re gister. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Harvey and Dianne enjoyed Saturday at Six Flags over Georgia in At lanta. Miss Ferolina Seay spent the weekend with her niece, Mrs. Gary Brissie, Mr. Brissie and family in Greenwood. Miss Brenda Waters visited her brother Larry and others of Boy Scout Troop 90 at Camp Old Indian on Wednesday of last week. Troop 90 spent the week at the camp near Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wilkie and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell were among those attending the drama, “The Liberty Tree’ in Columbia on last Thursday even ing. Bob and Melody Kay Bailey of Anderson spent several days last week with their grandparents, Mrs. Jim BaileyandMr. andMrs. Cecil McLendon. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McLendon, came for them Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McLendon attended the funeral services of a very close friend, Mr. Aubrey Wix, in Chester, Sunday. Mrs. Robert Wyatt spent Sat urday night with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. andMrs. Everett Suipmer, in Chappels. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell visited their daughter, Mrs. Wil liam Stone and Mr. Stone in An derson, Sunday. Russell Tram mell (AME) of Miramar Naval Air Station and El Cajon, Calif., and Mrs. Trammell will arrive today for a 10-day visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell. Johnny Lanlord is home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Lanford for two weeks before re turning to Clemson University. The Lanfords visited in North Carolina. Sunday. Mrs. Mildred Dickerson and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dickerson and Donna met Spec. 4 Billy Dickerson at the Atlanta jet port on Monday. He arrived from a years duty in Vietnam foraleav£ with his mother and family. He will be stationed at Ft. Knox, Ky. after his leave. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Terrell of Enoree spent the weekend with his aunt Mrs. Dickerson and grandmother, Mrs. W. P. Terrell. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT SUMMER Mr. and Mrs. Everett Summer of Chappels announce the birth of a daughter on Aug. 7 at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Summer is the former Miss Joyce Wyatt of Lydia. WOMAN’S CLUB PICNIC The Lydia Woman’s Club annual family picnic will be held Thursday (tonight) at the Lydia Community Building at 7 p.m. All members are urged to attend with their families and to bring well filled picnic bas kets and tea. Plates, forks, ice, etc., will be furnished by the club. Invite a prospective member to attend. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wyatt had a birthday dinner for their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Billy Wyatt at their cabin on Lake Greenwood Sunday. Attending were Mrs. Wyatts daughter, Mrs. Paul Patterson, Judy and Binky Patterson, Barry, Debra, Glenda and Kathy Wyatt. REUNION HELD The McCravey reunion was held at the Noland McCravey’s cabin on Lake GreenwoodSunday. LYDIA BAPTIST NEWS The Junior G.A.’s will meet at the church Thursday (today) at 6 p.m. The Associational Young Peo ple’s meeting will be at the Bap tist Assembly Grounds tonight at 7:30 p.m. All attending from the Lydia Church will meet at the church to leave at 7 p.m. “ON TO COLLEGE’ “On to College’ will be the theme for the Sunday morning 11 o’clock worship service with all college students invited. All high school students will also be recognized. The Brotherhood of the church will go to the Laurens County Home Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. for a worship service.
