Albion, Illinois, were guests last
Monday and Tuesday of the for
mer’s sister andbrother-in-law,

Bill Bishop, student at Geor
gia College in Milledgeville,
spent the weekend with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
Bishop.
ATTEND WEDDING
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bragg
attended the Hatchett-Crain wed
ding in PaulineonSaturday after
noon.
RECEIVES DISCHARGE
Dr. Robert Roman recently re
ceived his discharge from the
U.S. Navy. He and his wife, the
former Miss Linda Barron and
their infant daughter will make
their home in Columbus, Ohio,
where he is continuing his stud
ies.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Bozard,
Martin, and Margaret, and Mrs.
J. M. Bozard visited Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Griffis in Pendle
ton last Sunday. On this Sunday
aftertoon they visited Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Cash in Cowpens.
Miss Joyce Smith enjoyed the
weedend in Greenville with
friends there.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Miller
and children of College Park,
Maryland were last weekend
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Kelly and Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Flow.
ATTEND PARTY
Kevin and Shane Burnette
attended a birthday party in honor
of Joey Kitchens, son of Mr.
and Mrs. William Kitchens, in
Newberry on Saturday, July 20.
They, along with their grand
mother, Mrs. Minnie Burnette
remained with the Kitchens for
the week.
Mrs. Earl Connell and Scott
visited here over the weekend.
They have been making their
home in Winston-Salem where
Mr. Connell is working.
IN HOSPITAL
Homer Jacks, who was at home
for two weeks, returned to Bailey
Memorial Hospital on July 16.
Delk and son, Kelly, and Mr.
and Mrs. Louie Nabors, Kathy
and Karen. The Browns were
remembered with several nice
gifts.

byterian Church in Joanna onSun-
day at the regular 10 a.m. ser
vice was the Rev. W. T. King
of Newberry.
WOMANS CLUB
The Joanna Womans Club will
hold their regular monthly
meeting on Thursday (tonight) at
the Joanna Club House at 7:30.
All members are urged to attend.
METHODIST WOMEN MEET
On Tuesday, August G, the
W.S.C.S. of the Epworth Metho
dist Church will meet at the

BOYCE REUNION
The annual Boyce reunion will
be held on Sunday, August J at
Sonoco’s Lake View Club near
Hartsville from 10:30 a.m. until
5:00 p.m.

Powell Named
Top Airman
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Powell of
Whitten Village Campus, has tieen
named Outstanding Airman in his
unit at Eglin APB, Fla.
Sergeant Powell, a radar re
pairman, was selected for his
exemplary conduct and duty per
formance. He is assigned to a unit
of the Aerospace Defense Com
mand.
A 19G2 graduate of Clinton
High School, the sergeant re
ceived his A.A.S. degree in 1965
from Greenville, 111., Tech Col
lege.
His wife, Carol, is the daugh
ter of Mrs. I ronie Grant of 830
Ohio St., Columbia. Mrs.
Powell’s father, W. J. Franklin,
resides in Eastover, S.C.

Diane Ledford Davis of Clin
ton was among the 67 graduates
of Columbia College in com
mencement exercises Friday.
The diplomas were awarded in
ceremonies in College Place
Methodist Church in Columbia.
Dr. L. Currie McArthur, super-*
intendent of Sumter CitySchools,
was featured speaker.

DISCHARGED
1st Lt. Steve Passmore re
ceived his discharge on July 1st
at Ft. Sill, Okla., after serving
two years in the U.S. Army. He
and his wife enjoyed a week here
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
L. R. Passmore before return
ing to their home in Huntsville,
Ala.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Boyce
visited Mr. and Mrs. Guy Mis-
enhiemer in Chester on Sunday
afternoon.
Mrs. Lois Hair and Mrs. Cath
erine Craven attended the all
night gospel singing in Green
ville on Saturday.
Mrs. Eudean Bishop and Mrs.
McNeal Trotter visited Mr. and
Mrs. L. H. Rienhartin Batesburg
on Friday. Their mother, Mrs.
Mattie Rienhart who had been
there for two weeks, returned
with them.
