THE CHRONIC LE, Clinton, S. C., June 6, 1968—9 LEGION OF MERIT—Col. Robert McLees, ri^ht, a native of Clinton, receives the Legion of Merit from Britf. Gen. Phillip K. Davidson of I'.S. Military Intelligence in Sai gon, South Vietnam. McLees re ceived the award for his service in Intelligence in Vietnam. He is now stationed in Arlington, Va. A graduate of Clinton High School and Presbyterian College, he is the son of Mrs. Robert C. Mclx'es of 104 South Woodrow Street. Milk Can Cut Down On Those Calories Dieting and weight watching has become more than serious busi ness in recent years. It has tie- come a fad, according to Lau rens County Farm Bureau’s Dairy Committee. W. Hance Finley, chairman of the Dairy Committee, noted that milk can be a calorie-counter’s best friend. He cautioned weight- watchers to watcti the nutrition table in their quest for loosing or gaining weight, and they will find milk and dairy products will help them meet both their calorie and nutrition requirements. “Doctors will tell you the big gest mistake of “do-it-yourself dieters* is the sacrifice of nu trition for weight,* Finley said. “One can plan a good diet and still meet the minimum dairy nu tritional needs.” Milk provides many of the nutritional needs one usually overlooks in a diet, Finley con tinued. The following figures should be adequate to prove milk can l)e used with few calories added. The Federal Intermediate Cre dit Bank of Columbia provides leadership, supervision and loan funds for Production Credit Associations in the four states. The local farmer-owned Pro duction Credit Associations are providing over 42,000 farmer- members in the four states with more than $414 million in opera ting and capital investment credit on an intermediate-term basis. officials of the Palmetto Pro duction Credit Association who will attend the conference include Mr. S. Dewey Trammell, apprentice seaman, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. E B. Trammell of this city, who recently joined the Navy is stationed at Jacksonville, Fla. They have three other sons, Henry, Vernon, and Houston who are in army service in North Africa. On Thursday Lillian Dillard, Barbara Anderson, Myra Adair, Grace Young and Ann Owens “hiked” to Lakeside Country Club h r a “spend-the-day” party.
