Johnson
To Graduate
At Academy
Robert E. Johnson, Jr., son
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. John
son Sr., who reside on Jacobs
Highway, Clinton, is one of more
than 600 cadets in this year’s
U.S. Air Force Academy grad
uating class.
He will receive his bachelor
of science degree and be com
missioned a second lieutenant in
the Air Force June 5.
Cadet Johnson is a memtier
of the 10th graduating class at
the academy. Of the 3,457 grad
uates of previous classes, more
than 1,100 have served in or are
in the Vietnam theater.
Cadet Johnson majored in en
gineering management and was
named to the Dean’s List for his
academic excellence.
He also received special re
cognition at the academy by his
appointment as a element leader
with the rank of cadet first lieu
tenant and as a participant in
the master’s degree program.

OLDEST GRADATE—Oldest graduate to attend
Alumni Day reunions at Erskine College Saturday,
May 25, was Mrs. Edith DeWese Lynn of Tallahas
see, Fla., who graduated in 1898 from Due West
Woman’s College, now part of Erskine. Mrs. Lynn
was the only representative of her 70th reunion
class present. She is the widow of L. Ross Lynn,
superintendent of Thornwell Orphanage in Clinton
from 1918-13. Mrs. Lynn, who came to Erskine
with her daughter. Miss Elizabeth Lynn of Talla
hassee, Fla., is holding a photograph of her gradu
ating class of 1898.
Miss Lucy Matilda Todd of
Columbia and formerly of Clinton
received the bachelor of arts de
gree from QueensCollege,Char
lotte, N.C., May 20.
Miss Todd, daughter of Col.
and Mrs. Walter B. Todd, is an
English major. She is president
of Sigma Upsilon, honorary fra
ternity for writers; and president
of Orb and Sceptre, honorary
leadership organization. During
her junior year she was editor,
of Coronet, the college yearbook,
and served as vice president of
Sigma Upsilon. She is a mem
ber of Phi Mu sorority.
Recital Tonight
The piano pupils of Mrs. Harry
Y. McSween will be presented in
recital Thursday, (tonight) at
8:00 o’clock in the Friendship
Room of the First Presbyterian
