Plans Bill
On Titles
COLUMBIA - Rep. W. Paul
Culbertson of Laurens plans to
introduce a bill in the House
of Representatives which will
make it easier to run a title
check on property.
According to Rep. Culbertson,
the bill would require a “deriva
tion clause” in property deeds.
This requirement, according to
Rep. Culbertson, would be es
pecially helpful to lawyers
attempting to settle interstate
estates, that is the estates of
persons who die leaving no will.
i
“Sometimes, titles are diffi
cult to determine because of the
absence of records,"
Under this bill, it would be
easier to establish title of land
in the future.
