Legislation callind for a
Laurens County courthouse
referendum in November has
been passed by the State
House of Representatives and
sent to the Senate.
Sen. W. C. (Bill) Dobbins
has said he will Co alone with
the measure which will eive
voters choices on a new court-
hoose, a renovated courthouse
and a new county office build
ing or nothing. Up to $2 mil
lion in bonds could be issued
by the county if voters ap
prove the measure. T h e
referendum would be held in
conjunction with the Novem
ber general election.

and drawings by Presbyter
ian College junior James F.
Howard III of Greenville is
currently on display in the
lobby of the library building.
Several of his photographs
are in private collection, and
he has done commercial art
work for local firms. Howard
also is photographer for the
student neswpaper The col
lection will remain on display
through next Sunday.

service will be held m John
son Stadium at Presbyterian
College, beginning at 6 a m.
In case of inclement weather,
the service will be held in
Belk Auditorium.

odist Church, will bring the
Faster message.
Music will he furnished hs
the Clinton High School Band
The service is sponsored
jointly bv the Clinton-Joanna
Ministerial Association and
the Clinton Kiwams Club
Several local churches will
feature cantatas or other spe
cial music at the regular Sun
day morning services.
Tonight at 7 JO. the Sacra
ment of Holy Communion, a
candlelight service, will he
held at First Presbyterian

as professor of physics at
Presbyterian College, will be
honored in a special ‘‘White-
law Day” assembly program
next Wednesday morning.
The climax of the 10 a m.
program before the assembled
student body and friends will
be the unveiling of the bronze
plaque naming the auditorium I
in Richardson Science Hall,
the Neill G. Whitelaw Audi-!
torium.
Dr. Edward Burke, 1947
graduate of PC who serves as
chairman of the King College
physics department, will be
law Day program. President-
Emeritus Marshall W. Brown
will speak of his close associa
tion with Dr. Whitelaw since
the dav in 1935 that he as
dean brought the youthful
Neill Whitelaw to the PC
faculty. Representing the
student body on this program
will be David Berry of Union,
who served during the past
year as president of the stu
dent government.
Dr. Whitelaw has been rec
ognized as PC’s toughest
taskmaster whose high stand
ards helped to produce an
outstanding roster of alumni

the stars.
