How Can I?
By ANNE ASHLEY
Q. How can I prevent my
iron from sticking on starch
ed clothing, and building up
a messy residue?
A When you spray-starch
your clothing before ironing,
turn the clothes inside out
and spray on the underside.
Then, when you iron, reverse
the clothing and iron on the
right side. In this way you’ll
get the full benu/it from your
spray - starch without its
building up on your iron
, y. What can i do when my
homemade soup has become
tbo greasy?
A. Just put a big
lettuce leaf on top of the
soup. When the grease gath
ers around the leaf, remove
umd the grease) from the
pot.
Zli). How can I rewhiten the
dirty-looking tapes on my

whiting, then polish 'with a
dry flannel cloth. Ordinary
baking soda is also a good
nickel polish. Many other
such tips on the care and
cfeaning of all metals are
contained in my household
book.
Q How can 1 prevent a
rug from raveling?
A. By spreading clear plas
tic cement glue along the
edge below the nap When the
glue dries, trim a bevel in the
nap. The rug will not ravel,
and you’ll have a real pro

Q. How can 1 remedy some
warped phonograph records?
A. By placing them on any
flat surface in a warm room
and weighting them down
with heavy books — making
sure, of course, that the en

Q How can I improvise a

he were to find this out from 1

grow up with that knowledge, i
so that it is a part of their
thinking. ‘ along with the
realization ’ that they are
loved none the less by the
parents who so lovingly ac

she returned it to me, telling

Cert.unlv you’re not too old,
and certainly there’s nothing
"embarrassing” or unusual
about this or the age gap be
tween your teenagers and a
new baby.
DEAR SALLY Mv fiance

we can have an “expenses-

don't sail for the idea of a

DEAR BRIDE-TO-BE: I
am indeed! And since it’s
your inalienable right as the
bride to set the date of th<‘
wedding, set yours for a dif

DEAB SALLY I’m going
to attend my hoy friend’s'
church soon with him and his |
parents, and since 1 want to
hi sure i<> do the right thing,'
I’m wondering if I’ll be ex-J

or, since this will be more or j

my hoy friend to take care of I

though not exactly required
o' you, it still would ho n.ce
of you to give your own of

behavior when it comes to
contributing to any good
cause. *
NOTE TO DOUBTFUL
PARENTS: No, your baby
sitter should NOT be permit
ted to have her boy friend sit
w'lth her! Baby-sitting is a
great responsibility, and rhere
should be no outside distrac
tions. Furthermore, m mat
ter how fine a girl you say
she is, this kind of setup
could do some very damag
ing things to her reputation.
I’m sure, too, that HER par
ents would agree on this.
