Approximately 100 workers
are canvassing the Clinton
area to enroll members in
Clinton’s new YMCA.
Canvassers were given
their campaign material last
Thursday night at a dinner
at the YMCA.
Jack Martin, director of
the Reidsville, N. C. YMCA,
was featured speaker. He
showed slides depicting the
progress the Reidsville
YMCA has made since its
organization in 1965.
The Reidsville YMCA ori
ginally was housed in a two-
story residential building.
The YMCA now has 1,500
members and is on the thres
hold of constructing a YMCA
building.
Section captains in the
Clinton campaign are Mrs.
Robert Vance; Mrs. Bea Fer-
Guson; Mrs. Frank Sherrill;
Johnny Moore; Moses Guer-
rini; Herman Jackson; Mrs.
Eva Land; Ralph Teddards;
and Billy Tiller.
The campaign for charter
members in the Greater Clin
ton YMCA will continue
through Dec. 22.
Membership fees are; $8
for young people from first
grade through high school;
$12 for young single adults;
$20 for adult married couples
without children;- $25 for
family membership, includ
ing husband and wife and
all school-age children; $25
and up for sustaining mem
bership which is counted as
contribution for someone
who will not participate in
the YMCA activities. The sus
taining membership is tax
deductible.

TULL PLAQUE—A plaque noting the establish
ment of the Joseph M. Tull Scholarships at Pres
byterian College in memory of the founder, the
J. M. Tull Industries of Atlanta, is unveiled in
special campus ceremonies attended by company

Foundation has given $45,000 to PC to endow
scholarships perpetuating the name of one of the
South’s outstanding industrial leaders. .

James C. Young, a native
of Clinton, has been promot
ed to Engineer Technician at
Torrington Co.
Young was employed at
Torrington in June, 1961, as
an electrical technician. He
was promoted to leadman
and then to supervisor prior
to being promoted to engi
neer technician.
A veteran of the U. S. Air
Force, he is a graduate of
Clinton High School and at
tended Southern Tech where
he received the associate
science degree in electrical
technology.
He is a member of Hurri
cane Baptist Church and he
and his wife, Glorida, have
a son and a daughter.
An upward wage adjust
ment of approximately 5 per
cent for most employes has
been announced by E. L.
Mansure Division. The new
wage scale is to be effective
December 11th.
In making the announce
ment, David R. Meyers, gen
eral manager, stated that this
increase will raise the annual 1
payroll by more than $55,000. j
This is the second general
wage increase for employes
during 1967.
