PC Newspaper Gets Honor Rating The Presbyterian College student newspaper has re ceived a First Class honor rating by the Associated Col legiate Press for issues pub lished last spring, it was an nounced today. The weekly, entitled “The Blue Stocking” and edited by Charles Eagles of Florence, received its highest marks in the areas of campus news coverage, sports, editorials and layout. Tony Dendy of Greenville serves as manag ing editor; Rush Otey of Gainesville, Ga., assistant ed itor; and Kirk Peavy of Atlanta, business manager. On Sunday, Oct. 29, Mrs. Mary L. Johnson of 509 West Carolina Ave. observed her 80th. birthday with a dinner given in her honor by her daughters, Misses Elsie, Flossie, and Sarah ^Johnson. Mrs. Johnson attributes her longevity to early retire ment, prayers and few wor ries. She often uses the ex pression “work doesn’t kill anyone.” Seminar Conducted Mrs. Dorothy Scarborough, arts and crafts instructor, Homemaker Service, State De partment of Public Welfare, conducted a day’s Handicraft Institute for the Homemaker Units of Laurens and Green ville Counties Tuesday. The one-day Institute was held at the Laurens Coun ty Homemaker Demonstration Apartment, C-124 Spring Street. Attending were Mrs. Flos sie Ligon, Mrs. Marinelle Hunter, Laurens County Homemaker Unit; Mrs. India Garrett, Homemaker Super visor, Miss Othella Head, Mrs. Helen S. Lake, Mrs. Verleah Murray, Mrs. Ella S. Nichols, and Mrs. Lulee C. Washington, of the Greenville County Homemaker Unit. UDC TO MEET The Stephen D.
