S. Horne en route to their home in Dallas, Texas from Charlotte, N. C., where they had visited rela tives. IVJrs. R. W. Johnson is a patient in Laurens County Dis trict Hospital suffering injur ies received in an auto acci dent last week. Mrs. J. D. Jeans has re- where she visited her son and turned from Atlanta, Ga., daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jeans. Mr. Jeans is con valescing in the Veterans Hos pital there following surgery. She was accompanied home the week-end by Mrs Jeans and Mr. and Mrs. Tom my Jeans of Warner Robins, Ga. Mrs. W. W. Harris has re turned from Richmond, Va. where she was visiting Mrs J. P. Johnston, and also at tending a press meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Add Blakely were Sunday guests of Dr. and Mrs. Lee Add Blakely in Woodruff. Hershel Thomason is a pa tient in a Greenville hospital. Major and Mrs. J. H. Watts, Jr.,’ and children of Sumter, along with Capt. and Mrs. C. D. Watts, Sr. of Fort Knox, Kentucky, recently visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Watts of this city. Capt. Watts recently completed Ar mor School at Fort Knox and will begin his new duties at Fort Polk, Louisiana, imme diately. Major Watts is as signed to Fort Rucker, Ala bama, in the department of Tactics. IN NASSAU Mr. and Mrs. Claude Law- son are spending the week in Nassau visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Thompson. LOSES BROTHER Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mc- Sween and son, Dick, were called to Pensacola, Fla. on Thursday due to the illness and death of*'Mr. McSween’s brother, Dr. John C. McSween. Mr. and Mrs. Rhett Adair spent several days recently with the Cecil Pages in Char lotte. Lynn Thomason of Mount- ville recently left from New York City for France where she will study for eight weeks. Leake has re turned to her home after a several weeks illness and stay at Self Memorial Hospital. Mrs. P. M. Clement and daughter, Kathy of Charles ton are presently with her. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Perry and family spent last week at Pon- derosa Family Camp Ground at Myrtle Beach. Joining them were Mr. and Mrs. J. E: Martin of Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Nivens, Mr. and Mrs. Don Nivens and family of Spartanburg and Mr. and Mrs. Neal McNeil of Spar tanburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Neal McNeil and family of St. Stephens. Carol Sanders, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Sanders left Saturday from Greenville- Spartanburg Jet-Port for Los Angeles, Calif, where she will be studying for a month at U.C.L.A. under a grant that she received. Richard Foster, representa tive of Metropolitan Life In surance Co., is in Biloxi Miss, for a business conference with officials of the company at the Broadwater Beach Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Dow are in West End, Grand Ba hama Island, this week where they are attending the sum mer convention of the South eastern Photoengravers As sociation being held at the Grand Bahama Hotel and Country Club. They were ac companied by Mrs. Nannell Blalock Moore of York and Miss. Frances Moore of Charl otte. Whitten Village Notes Mrs. Louise Goss and family have returned from a trip to Austin, Texas, where they visited her sister, Mrs. H. B. Hurt. They also visited their son, WOC Warren T. Goss, at Fort Wolters Army Base. Mrs. Sara Wicker and a group of friends spent the past week-end at Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Louise Tucker, ac- compained by her daughter, Mrs. Judy Hunnicutt, spent a recent week-end ip, Atlanta, Ga. They went especially to carry Mrs. Tucker’s two small granddaughters home, who had visited her the pre ceding week. While there they visited the girls’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leeadd Tucker, and another one of Mrs. Tucker’s daughters and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Morris. Mrs. Marie Farmer has returtied to work after a stay in Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood. Don Acherson’s 21-months- old daughter was released last week from the Laurens District Hospital. She’s on the road to recovery after a bout with pneumonia. Miss Laura Finley was re leased from Self Memorial Hoespital, Greenwood, the past week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Tamberg and son, Bill, of Charleston, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Clisby B. Temple ton. Mr and Mrs. Huel O’Kelly * of Greenville, visited Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Templeton Sun day. Mrs. Cravford, who h^s been with Whitten Village for the past 31 years, retired re cently and is at present with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Smith, in Florence. Mrs. Mary Carbett had as spend-the-day guests Tuesday at her home in Mountville, her daughter, Mrs. Roberts, and children of Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Martin of Anderson. Mrs. Renie Setzer attended the Shannon-Boyce wedding at Liberty Spring Presbyte rian Church in Cross Hill Sat urday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Young left by plane last week for a lew days vacation in the Ba hamas. Mrs. Jeanne Simms, Mrs. Mary Lamb, Mrs. Louise Galloway, and Mrs. Frances Gaskins have enrolled in the School of Practical Nursing at Bailey Memorial Hospitau. Officers elected for the class from Whitten Village were Mrs. Simms, president; Mrs. Lamb, secretary. Mrs. Eula Craddock, a for mer employee of Whitten Vil lage, is spending a few days with Mrs. Alma Edgeworth and Mrs. Lucy Ruff. Miss Janice Langford from Columbia Hospital School of Nursing spent Friday night with Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bigham-. She visited with friends and former co-work ers at Whitten Village Sa turday. J. F. Bagwell Joanna —. James _F. Bag- well, 38, of 511 Milton Rd., died Monday at 3:15 p| m. at a Greenwood hospital after a long illness. Native of Easley, son of Mrs. Beulah O’Donald Bag- well and the late Lawrence C. Bagwell, he had lived in Jo anna for 19 years, was a tex tile employe and a member of the Church of God. Surviving also are his wife, Mrs. Betty Sluder Bagwell; a daughter, Phyllis Ann Bag- well of the home; three sons, Roger, Michael and Dennis Bagwell of the home; and a brother, Jack C. Bagwell of Seneca. Funeral services were con ducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. lolin L. Martin, Rev. at the Joanna Church of God Ernest C. Moates and Rev. Walter A. Clark. Burial was in Rosemont Cemtery. Pallbearers were Fred Hayes, Clyde Holt, Jimmy Estes, May Smtih, Lester Kit chens and Herman Cassells.
