week.. On Thursday evening
they attended the Pittsburgh
Pirates - Atlanta Braves ball
game. Mr. Word attended the
Hejaz Shrine Convention in
Qreenville on Tuesday and
Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brank
of Great Falls visited her
sister, Mrs. Mark Conner and
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy South on
Thursday. Mife. Conner re
turned home, with her, sister
for a visit. * *
Mrs. Mark Windsor with
Mr. and Mrs. Luther Wood of
Clinton attended the funeral
of the latter’s grandmother,
Mrs. Maggie ’Tleeves Garner
in Augusta, Ga. on Thursday.
Mrs. Lillie Belle Miller is
visiting iri Charleston with her
daughter and son-in-law, Rev.
and Mrs. Clyde Mitchum.
Mr. and Mrs. Perry Par
rish and Tami enjoyed the
weekend on a fishing trip at
Santee Cooper.
Miss Feroline Seay spent the
weekend with her sister, Mrs.
Royce Smith and Mr. Smith,
near Laurens.
Mr. and Mrs. Gregg Hart
and David of Greensboro, N.
C. visited a few days with
her aunt and uncle, Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Walker and her
brothers, Tommy, Randy and
Roger Brinkley at Thorn well,
coming especially for the gra
duation exercises at Thorn-
well on Monday evening.
Tommy was one of the gradu
ates.
Friends of Mrs. Linda Sat
terfield McKittrick will be in
terested to learn that she was
graduated from the Woodrow
Wilson High School in Nor
folk, Va. last Thursday. She
is the wife of Raymond Mc
Kittrick and they have two
children one of whom was in
the first grade this year. Mr.
and Mrs. McKittrick are for
mer Clinton residents.

cent weekend at Isle of Palms
in Charleston.
Mrs. Sidney Oakley visited
her daughter" and son in-law,

held their regular meeting
Thursday evening at the ,Ly-
dia Community Building with
Miss Roberta Prince, presi
dent presiding!
After the devotional
thoughts brought by Miss Nel
lie Osborne, the ladies left for
a tour of the C. W. Anderson
Hosiery Co. which was en
joyed by everyone.
The ladies then returned to
the Community Building for
a business session and then
delicious refreshments of
cake with ice cream and
strawberries and. cold drinks
served by the hostesses, Mrs.
Claude Gilstrap and Mrs. Sam
Badden.

Lucien W. Bobo, Sr.
Gray Court — Lucien W.
Bobo, Sr., 69, died at his home
Saturday at 1:30 p. m. after a
brief illness.
Native of the Friendship
community, son of the late
W. E. and Lala Wright Bobo,
he was a merchant for 40
years, a member of the Wal
lace Lodge and Gray Court
Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Jewel Cheek Bobo; two sons,
Lucien W. Bobo, Jr. of the
home and James B. Bobo of
Charleston; a daughter, Mrs.
William H. (Rosemary)’ Owen
of Valley Cottage, N. Y.; a
sister, Mrs. I. N. Patterson,
of Wake Forest, N. C.; a bro
ther, Paul Robert Bobo of Au
rora, 111.; and six grandchil
dren.
Funeral services were con
ducted at 4 p.m. at Friend
ship Baptist Church by Rev.
Henry Rogers and Rev. Bill
Bolt. Burial was in the church
cemetery.
Selective Service
Cancels Fall Tests
Columbia — Colonel David
H. Collins, state director of
selective service for South Ca
rolina, advised today that LL
General Lewis H. Hershey, the
national director of selective
service, had announced that
plans for conducting a selec
tive service college qualifica
tion test for high school sen
iors and college students this
fall have been cancelled.
The national director stated
this decision was based upon
the uncertain future relating
to college deferments. Rec
ommendations of the national
advisory commission on sel
ective service, headed by
Burke Marshall, and the civil
ian advisory panel on military
manpower procurement, head
ed by Gen. Mark Clark, are
being considered along
