Items of Interest About Clinton Folk RETURN HOME AFTER ILLNESS John M. Mason has returned from a stav at Veleran’s Hos pital in Columbia and is able to be out again. Following eye - surgery and stay in the hospital in Colum bia Mrs. G. A. Black has re turned to her home. Col. A. J. Thackston is at home following an illness and stay in the hospital in Co lumbia. ATTEND S.C.B. AND P.W. MEETING Attending the meeting of the South Carolina Federation of Business and Professional Wo men’s Clubs from Clinton, were Miss June Adair, Mrs. P. M. Pitts, Mrs. Clarice Wells Johnson, Mrs. Mary Beal, and Mrs. M. C. Poole. It was held at the Wade Hampton Hotel in Columbia last Friday through Sunday. W. G. King is a patient at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood where he has been undergoing treatment since last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Blake ly spent the weekend in Mill- edgeville, Ga. with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Sey mour and Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Hatton were dinner guests Friday of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hay Outz at their home in Greenville. Mrs. P. M. Pitts attended the Staff Clinic sponsored by the South Carolina Association of Chamber of Commerce Ex ecutives on Saturday held at the Capital Cabana Motor Inn in Columbia. TRULUCK SPEAKER FOR CHESTER LIONS R. S. Truluck, who is a member of the S. C. Eye Bank Speakers Bureau, was in Chester last Friday evening where he spoke to the Chester Lions Club on the State Eye Bank Program. He was ac companied on the trip by the Rev. J. H. Darr. James Smith and son, Ron nie, of Columbia were visitors in the city on Sunday, coming especially to attend the An nual Alumni Picnic and Bac calaureate Service at Thorn- well. Attending with them were Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Holland. Mrs. Smith and other son, Michael, were un able to attend due to illness. Mrs. S. B. Pruitt will spend the weekend in Greer with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jake R. Pruitt. Dr. and the Rev. Mrs. Har old D. Brown and daughters, Cynthia afid Anpiemarie of Horton, Mich., and Rev. Mrs. Brown’s mother, Mps. Pearl S. Martin of Rock Hill, were recent guests of his brother and sister-in-law,,, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton C. Brown. Pitts, Mrs. Joe Bonds, Mrs. L. S. Red- deck, and Mrs. J. B. Arnold attended a tea on Sunday af ternoon for Miss Mary Har vey at the home of Mrs. G. C. Cloninger, Jr., in Green ville. Miss Harvey, the daugh ter of the Rev. and Mrs. Al bert S. Harvey, formerly of Clinton, is a June bride-elect, and was being honored by the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of St. Mark Methodist Church. Mrs. D. B. Smith, Mrs. Charles Bucie, and Mrs. Mur ray Adams were among those from Clinton who attended a tea in Greenville for Miss Mary Harvey, a bride-elect. Lt. and Mrs. Charles H. •* vs Pvt Milling Blalock Trains at Ft. Jackson Army Private Milling Bla lock, son of Dr. and Mrs. George R. Blalock, of Clinton, completed a field communica tions crewman course at Ft. Jackson May 19. During the course, he was trained ’to string wire from the field to the communication center. Instruction was also given in basic electricity, switchboard installation and operation and pole climbing. Pvt. Blalock received a B. A. degree in ISIS from mo iversity of the South, Tenn., and a J. D. degree in 1966 from the University of South Carolina School of Law, Columbia, He is a member of Phi Delta Phi fraternity. John S. Wingard John S .Wingard, of Lexing ton, brother of Gen. B. F. Wingard of Clinton, died sud denly on Sunday. The fufieral was held on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Lexington. To Attend Boys State These boys will attend Boys State at The Citadel in Charleston June 4- 11 as representatives of American Legion Post No. 56. Dr. and Mrs. Chester Keller were Tuesday afternoon visi tors of Mrs. Keller’s mother, Mrs .Ella Denson. Mrs. Edwin W. Stewart of Malverne, Long Island, N. Y., and Mrs. Howard Maher of Huntington Island, N. Y., who came to the city special ly to accompany Mrs. Stew art’s daughter, Ellen, a stu dent at Presbyterian College, home for the summer vaca tion. While here they* visited with relatives and friends. On last Wednesday they visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Stewart. The Stew arts and Mrs. Maher depart ed today for their home in New York. Enroute there they will spend several days visiting at Myrtle Beach. ATTEND CONVENTION Dr. and Mrs. David T. Mix on returned Tuesday from several days visit to Mrytle Beach where they attended the South Carolina Optome- tric convention. Accompany ing them home for several days visit was Dr. Mixon’s mother, Mrs. J. J. Hughes, of Conway. Among those attending the South Carolina Presbyterian Synod Men’s Conference at Montreal, N. C., on Sautrday and Sunday were Dr. and Mrs. Marc Weersing, Tommy Hollis, Dick Swetenburg, W. C. Baldwin, John Harmon, and Clyde Sallaw. Also David McDonald and Dan Roberts of Presbyterian College. ATTEND TEA Mrs. Davis Pitts, Mrs. Joe Bonds, Mrs. J. B. Arnold, and Mrs. L. S. Reddeck* were in Greenville Sunday to attend a tea for Miss Mary Harvey, brid-elect, given by the wom en of Saint Mark’s Methodist Church. Miss Harvey is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. A. S. Harvey, former pastor of Broad Street Methodist Church. VISIT IN SUMTER Mr. and Mrs. George Bult- man of Sumter had as their guests Sunday for lunch Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hart, Dr.and Mrs. Edouard Patte, Mrs. H. D. Payne, Sr., Mrs. Mercer Wise, Mis Agnes Davis, Mrs. Hubert Pitts, Mrs. James Pitts, and Mrs. Raymond Pitts of this city. Following lunch, they visited the iris gardens at Swan Lake and other points of interest. Master Mark Lyons of Spar tanburg spent several days earlier this week with his grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Marc Weersing. Col. and Mrs. Powell A. Fraser and daughter, Elaine, and Mis Linda Suddeth spent the week-end at the Fraser’s cottage at Montreal, N. C. ATTEND CONVENTION Dr. and Mrs. N. C. Wes- singer returned Wednesday following several days stay in Charleston where they attend ed the South Carolina Dental convention. Mrs. Wessinger’s mother, Mrs. A. O. Owen, of Anderson, visited here with her grandchildren, Derik, Ka ren, and Kevin Wessinger, while their parents were away. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Muller spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Cleaver in El- berton, Ga. Cecil Qrayton, accompan ied by his son, Randy, attend ed the Atlanta baseball game on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Black and daughter, Betty, and Mrs. J. F. Jacobs will attend graduation exercises at Con verse College this week-end where the Black’s other Ame. will- be among the graduates. Ame will also be the soloist for the commencement program. VISIT IN NEBRASKA Rev. and Mrs. E. B. Keis- ler have returned from a two week’s visit to Fremont, Ne braska, with their two chil dren. They visited in the home of their daughter, Mrs. Larry Thomas, Mr. Thomas and family, and also thpir son, Francis Kcisler, and family. While there Rev. Keisler was the guest speak er for the commencement service at Central Lutheran Theological Seminary. Mis Joyce Elrod of Pendle ton was the week-end guest of her aunt, Mrs. Jim McDon ald. Pfc. James L. Dean Assigned to Vietnanfi Army Private First Class James L. Dean, 20, son of James C. Dean, 57 Beech St., Lydia, was assigned to the 9th Infantry Division in Viet nam, May 5. Pvt. Dean, a wireman in Headquarters Company, 5th Battalion of the division’s 60th Infantry, entered the Army in November 1966 and was last stationed at Ft. Jackson, S. C. • Pvt. Gentry fends Course in Alabama Private Dallas W. Gentry, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Gentry, 320 Beaure gard St., Clinton, completed a five-week aircraft mainten ance course at the Army Avia tion School, Ft. Rucker, Ala., May 17. He was trained in airfield operations and in servicing and repairing fixed and ro tary - wing aircraft. He may stay at the school and receive specialized instruction or he assigned to an Army airfield stateside or overseas. Mus. degree Sunday afternoon at graduat ing exercises at Converse Col lege, Spartanburg. Her ma jor was in piano performance. A 1963 graduate of Clinton High School, she is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Black. Dr. Keis!er # s Subject Dr. E. B.
