At Calif. Air Base
Michael W. Boland, son of

Airman Boland is a mater

Calif. He is a member of the
Military Airlift Command
which operates a global air
lift system for U. S. forces
employing more than 1,000
modern aircraft.

Thompson Named
On All-Star Team
Herbert Thompson, a 165-
pound halfback from Bell
Street High School, has been
named on the South Carolina
Upper State Ati-Star team.
The All-Star game will be
placed Aug. 3 at Benedict
College in Columbia.
Thompson, it was stated,
was selected for his outstand
ing speed. He runs the 100-
yd. dash in 9.5 seconds. He
is also active in basketball.
During the past season,
Thompson led his team in
Scoring 18 touchdowns and
gaining more than 1,000 yards
rushing. The Wildcats were
the district champions.
Thompson has received sev
eral scholarship offers and
athletic grants-in-aid from
colleges and universities. He
plans to attend either Howard
University or New Mexico
State University.
His football coaches are W.
E. Little and Harold William*.
